Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Leads me to ponder a question I've thought of before- if you had wads of money could you effectively pay your way onto a pro team if you were a half decent rider at all.

Ain't saying exactly this is what this guy did but seems he had some other type of connection with cervelo bosses before he turned pro with them

This was posted back in Feb. Oddly, the ifpeloton.com domain hosting the linked story seems to have lapsed.

Anyway, he didn't buy his way on to the team, he was a journo that went pro, presumably selected for his combination of cycling ability, journalistic skills and contacts. The ranking of those attributes is anyone's guess.

I think that last section answers your question.

AFIAK it was quite a common thing in the past for a rider to buy their way onto a team. Surprised to see it at pro-continental level though as they have a minimum salary circa 30-40k

The guy holds his own as a domestique for CTT!!
he was connected in cycling... Seems a savvy rider to have on your team, gets you good publicity while doing his job!!!
