Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hi all, just wanted to ask your opinion on a wheel truing stand I'm considering purchasing. This is what I'm looking at, obviously I want to keep the purchase price down but want a dependable product also (I read this was an ok stand).Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated also (I'm willing to spend up to €150 if necessary!) Thanks again.

If you're going to be building/truing wheels I'd really recommend buying Roger Musson's book on the subject:

Good section on truing stands in it (Tip: build your own ;)).

Although a wheel truing stand is great to have, I would keep my money and make one. Unless you want to impress your friends with a blinging pimped out best on the market stand there really is no need.
This is what i done....... In my shed ive a vice, a good old fashioned vice at that. get some old forks, the larger the better. drill a hole each side and screw in a long bolt were the rim of your wheel is. say an M4 is fine.
Now do this for ever wheel size you tend to true. it take 5 minutes to make and its exactely the same minus the bells an whistels:). you dont even need a vise , a hole in the wall out the back of in a bench is fine to drop your forks in. plus your 150 richer .happy building. a little tip when truing...... close your eyes and listen , it works..... oh and tru at room tempeture and take your time.

Thanks for the replies. I was considering building my own but that's not an option at this time, there will be a few of us using the stand so we will get value out of it. I'm not looking for a super-blinged model, just something which will do a decent job etc. and not be a total waste of €'s.:D

I got that one last week, cheapest reasonable one I could find. Does the job fine so far, Dishing maybe more problematic than one of the real fancy ones but it's doable, I can't see a huge price to benefit beneficial in going upto the real fancy one they have the TS2.
