Im coming up to dublin from Galway for a concert in the 02. Where is the best to park without having to venture too far into the city (coming in via the M6 motorway). Ideally, it would be close to the luas and have parking open until 1am-ish.

Sounds like the Luas Park and Ride at the red cow is what you're looking for.

Coming from Galway on the motorway, follow the signs approaching the M50 to go south, take the next exit (the red cow/N7/Limerick road), and follow the signs to the Luas park and Ride at the corner of the junction.
The only problem might be that you have to merge through a few lanes of traffic at the junction to get to the Park and Ride, which can be tricky if you don't know in advance.

Is that a 24hr car park? I heard that getting from galway to hueston station is fairly straight forward, and that there is a car park there too.
Though the red cow was a fair bit outside the city

Any time there is a concert in the O2, the traffic into town, along John's road, past heuston station and along the quays is a nightmare !!
Do yourself a big favour, use the LUAS park-and-ride. You will regret it if you don't. 15 minutes driving (max) before the concert will save you 90 minutes afterwards.
