What else defines class then? How does someone from the working class get into the middle class? Promotions.

Why bother posting that if you can't even offer your own opinion? Or do you even have one? Why are you posting?

Here you go - I assume you can read?

What is the most likely way that it would come about that Anto, whacker and solidifier will take stock of their own puerile existence and be inspired to embark on a journey of personal and spiritual evolution?

Or perhaps the arrogant **** in this country will just realize they are nothing more than arrogant ****.

    Rich pricks - upper class
Bosses and educators - middle class
    laborers etc. - working class

Didn't they teach you this sh*t in uni?

In what social class do you place a bricklayer?
They earn a lot more than 30k but do manual work so im just wondering were they are.

OP I kind of agree with were your coming from but I wouldnt base it on employment.

So what's it based on in this country? To me, a bricklayer is working class and the fact that he may earn more than 30k just means the economy is bullsh*t. Laborers and skilled tradesmen usually earn less than educated workers.

Wages and education are the primary factors that delineate class in my opinion.

Seems to me that in this country a scumbag is someone from a certain area or someone who has a particular accent. Tell me I'm wrong.

Nice to know that Max Weber is bullshít - I'm sure he'd be devastated that you think so.

I am posting because it is, quite frankly, ridiculous to assume that someones class (if there really is such a thing) can be deliniated by occupation alone. Class mobility takes time.

I did. Bricklayers and all other skilled labor/craftsmen are working class. Always have been always will be. The rely on the middle class to pay their wages.

I knew a brickie that made 50k a year and a guy who pruned roses that makes 60k a year, are they middle class?

I couldn't give a fu*k who Max Weber is. I asked for your opinion, not his. Do you not understand or should I repeat myself once again?

Who was paying their wages? Probably some middle class schmuck who has no idea of the value of money.

Maybe when you get a wider experience of life and the world you will realise that people everywhere are the same; class, colour or creed. You will find arrogance and every other human vice and virtue in Finglas, Foxrock, Donegal or Cork. And in every other corner of the world.

Well according to his logic, they skip middle class they dont collect 200 pound and go straight to jail, wait what....... I meant they go to upper class,
and are automatically "rich pricks" especially that pruning roses guy

Oh I understand you perfectly my good sir. I just think that if you are unable or unwilling to do the most rudimentary of research into the evolution of class theory then you would not understand my own view on it so I will save my pixels.

It's great to know that such intellectual posts are being banged up here. I wonder how you would class Jack O'Connor?

I will go and have a Cuban cigar and a bottle of Chateau Margaux while you ponder that.

Yeah, and look where that got us. Oh, perhaps you live in Norway or Switzerland and your particular country has not yet been devastated by the current global economic depression.
