    Hey all,
I'm just after buying my first house and i'm currently shopping around for Home Insurance. How do i know what to value my house when they ask me? I've not had it valued and don't necessarily want to pay for a valuer to do it! Any ideas on how to work out the value of my house? Thanks in advance.

Re-instatement value is calculated by multiplying the area of the house by the current re-building cost.E.G. €200 per square foot. The building surveyors association publish tables from time to time. Terraced houses cost more to rebuild than detached. Period houses cost more to reinstate than modern.
