Has anyone got any idea when the second round of offers for the PME might be?

    Taken from the PAC website:
Second Round Provisional Offers (if any), to be issued online by the end of May 2016.

Best of luck with it :)

Have many people secured placement in Galway? I've been rejected by a few places now and am starting to panic

Are career prospects as bad for primary school teachers as they are for secondary teachers?

  • Registered Users Posts: 243 ✭✭Easca Peasca

People who've accepted a place in NUIG for the PME, have you been contacted about Garda vetting?

Edit: Received an email today which mentions attachments, but as far as I can see, there's nothing attached. Curiouser and curiouser :P

Could someone advice me on what to wear to one these interviews (primary teaching)? I was thinking jeans, shirt and jumper. Is that the normal attire or should a suit be worn?

Just my opinion but I wouldn't dream of going to any interview whether it being a job or in your case entry into teaching (which is a professional qualification) in jeans. Remember you will be judged from the minute you enter the room. Make a bit of an effort. Would you honestly turn up for an interview in jeans?

Smart shoes, suit pants and a shirt is what I'd go for. Throw on a nice fitted jumper if it's cold.

I was trying to make light of it above...but to be honest I cannot believe this question is even being asked...If I was a manager in any employment sector and someone walked in in jeans I'd finish the interview abruptly and move the the next candidate...to get a job stocking shelves in a supermarket professional attire for the interview is minimum requirement let alone Primary school teaching.

Don't wear jeans to an interview. But I have had three principals say that they don't want to see suits at interview because they feel it's not appropriate for the position. Difficult to please!

Wear a shirt and trousers at least anyway.

Just got an email from PAC saying 2nd round offers are out today. Good luck to everyone waiting on one.

Thanks, I read on here before about suits not being needed but you are all right in saying smart shoes, slacks and a shirt would look better

A tie wouldn't do any harm.

I only just got mine sorted last Friday, was pure look tbh. I'm in Galway and a lot of schools got back to me saying they were full or only took past pupils. My best advice is to go around to schools in person and ask to see the principal so you can hand your application in and make a good impression

Anybody know when PAC will be offering places for PME (primary)? Had the interviews last week and anxious to know how long the wait could be

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6 Jharpsb

Hi does anyone know if you can defer your Pme until next year? With ucd?

I have heard of people deferring previously. If you're having serious doubts then ringing UCD's Postgraduate Office (or equivalent) is your only bet.

Hi thanks. It's just if I don't get a school sorted I want to be sure I don't have to go through the whole application procedure again

As far as I am aware you cannot defer the P.M.E that was from the office in U.C.C...but cannot comment on others colleges as i dont know

Currently studying a B. Ed (primary), and specialising in History. Have been led to believe that this enables me to teach secondary school teaching. Wondering if I was to choose this route, I would probably need another subject to teach, what my directions should be after my degree?

Also would a PME be necessary considering if I have B. Ed
