    Hello All,

We are trying to get some quotes for knocking a dividing wall between our kitchen and dining room (not supporting) and to take out our back door and block it up on the bottom half and put a window on the top half. We will also need to move the radiator and the gas boiler (short distance only as they are on the dividing wall).

Anybody know how much you word expect this to cost? Anyone know good builers in Cork?

We have got one quote already for 2.5k (which I thought was very high) or am I just unrealistic?:(

without knowing the full extent of sizes and materials its hard to tell. does the 2.5k include materials and fitting the window?

if, for example the wall is 3m wide by 3m high, I'd expect this to cost around €500. to take out the door and build up the half ope, I'd say around €600, and the window, lets say its a 1.2 x 1.2 and leaving in the existing lintel, €350. Moving the boiler and rad, probably around €500. thats approx €1,950 I'd be guessing. but are there finishes to be re done where the wall is coming out? ceiling, walls and floors? plastering to be done? painting?

    Thanks bruschi for the information,

I think I was a bit hazy on the details, the wall is 2.5m2. The quotation we received includes all materials (except for the window). In the original request we asked for the entire doorway to be blocked up but have since changed our minds. The quote also excludes plumbing costs as the builder asked us to allow a PC sum of 2.2k to supply and fit the new boiler (not sure why he thinks we need a new one as the exiting one was bought within the last 5 years - potterton)

Let me know what you guys think!
