Those with no respect for others and who have long records of repeat offences? Why come on in, we have a house for you. Where would you like it?

When it gets too old, we will move you out to a nice neighbourhood, knock your house down, build you a newer and better house in an upgraded estate and move you back in. We will even compensate you for being put out!!!

    How does council housing work?

It is clearly not working. It is a broken system that actually never has been fixed, Since industry pulled out of our Doclands , railways disappeared, when Limerick was a once booming town. It is a shame to say but we were economically better off under English occupation. In Ireland in general there have been more evictions under the Harp than the Crown. Why do we stand idly by and allow the mistreatment of our good Citizens at the hand of thugs is beyond me. I am begining to think we are a failed nation and the great men and women that fought to the death to bring the British empire to the table to give us a start as a nation of our own have died in vein. Our politicians are leaderless from both a local and national perspective.

Our system protects violent people. Gaurds are powerless, Politicians leaderless, judges corrupted, frequent money pit tribunals for unjustifiable events. The list goes on and on.

My solution is to equip the Gaurds with guns. We need politicians to lobby for enforced evictions for families egregious violent behaviours, exactly like the family in fairview cresent, garryowen. They are also honest Limerick people that need an opportunity to work and learn skills. They are so many men and women I have met that feel absolutely helpless with no skills and= no confidence, as a result of never having anybody believe in them. This is a very sad thing that we do not have an out reach programme for this lost generation. The People in our socio-economic disadvantaged areas that have been refused work in the 20 years of our boom, because they may have looked different or they may have been unsure about themselves or not have the right address or a fixed abode etc. But for some reason this is true. These are the very people who deserve to be given a chance at least to succeed and get a qualification. We should not reward the violent scum that intimidate our good Citizens with resources from our taxed income. This is a crime and this is wrong.

I actually believe in something along the same lines, put all the trouble makers in one estate and move out the decent folk.

"Punish" trouble makers in other estates by moving them to this "bad" estate. At the same time allow people in the "bad" estate to move to other estates if they show signs of maturing and better behaviour with a probationary period in place.

The bad estate would probably be a ghetto of the highest order but at least the bad eggs would be all in the one basket and just harass one another. An estate with the minimum amount of access points would be ideal, allowing it to rapidly shut-down by the Gardai in times of trouble.

There are lots of decent folk putting up with sh*t from arseholes for too long.

And there's my right-wing thought of the day folks. :D
i think they call it a jail!!

The bad estate you are describing sounds just like St. Marys Park or Southhill. That's hardly worked, has it?

This a very real issue. A very very real issue. It has not got enough coverage from our media. It is a crying shame that this story has to go all the way to Dublin because it has not got the attention it deserves down here. Maybe we need more people in Dublin to take notice of Limerick affairs. It seems to me that us Limerick people don't want to fight and speak up for whats right. We got the fob off mentality. Truth is families became homeless because of fear for their lifes and intimidation from their neighbours constantly. These people have been ignored by City Council and ontop of that perpetrators have been rewarded with a new home. Absolute crap thats what that is.

Deacon, I've a genuine question for you.

Have you actually tried to contact the media or any government representatives about this, or is your campaign still in the "post about it on message-boards" stage?

Yes, I have emailed every newspaper in the vacinity and the country with our current problems. I feel like people are beginning to see whats really going on bit by bit. I am trying to bring awareness to this praticular issue. I haver contacted LCC to no avail. I believe every Citz should voice there opinion also on what is right and wrong. I feel it is important keep up a dialoque what our so called leaders are meant to be doing in our Cities best interest. Transparancy is really important but vaguely exist insectoverlord. It is a shame, we would rather watch Liverpool play than take head of what is becoming of our neighbourhoods,Cities, Country and most of all our people.

What do you mean "so-called leaders"? Why don't you run for election?

There's a touch of hysteria to your posts that I hope you kept out of your emails.

I'd love to know who is causing all this trouble, and more importantly confirmation that their new abode is nowhere near mine.

Strikes me as bizzare and horribly unfair that people can abuse property, upset neighbours and basically ruin an otherwise decent area and eventually get evicted by the City Council only to turn up cap in hand to the HSE and get rehoused elsewhere.

If there is no comeback and no responsibility for conduct why would anyone care how they behaved or treated a property?

So People can read about his personal plight in the freebie Press as they munch their Special K and slurp their Tea?

    - Although I'm sure the Limerick Post would love to sell Lawnmowers and low quality Double-glazing on the back of his story......

No to make a difference to highlight the plight of the people suffering, make jokes if you like but people are being terrorised by scumbags and it is WRONG

maybe if these scumbags were housed in upper middle class areas things might change.

I was just making the point that Deacon is not obliged to do anything and if he did follow that suggested course then the likely outcome would simply be that the Slack Jawed Gawpers would get a free dose and the Papers would shift some extra copy.

    - I sympathise with all involved and would appreciate it if you could refrain from misrepresenting me like that in future......

didnt misrepresent you in any way, dont recall saying deacon was obliged to do anything like you say. Asked him a question

Odds are the Gardaí have to be responding to some 999 calls - Perhaps if you dial what most contemporary Societies call the 'Emergency' Number from the posh Houses then the Local Law Enforcers actually call out to intervene etc.

Fair enough, state your view - I just wanted to point out that what you had personally interpreted as a joke was closer to sarcasm at the suggestion that People have to lose their anonymity as well as everything else they've lost etc.
