Not sure which subjects to pick for final year?

I wasn't sure if i should put this in the education forum or here so apologies if i'm wrong..

I just started my third and final year in NUIG Commerce and i'm specialising in economics, we have about 50 subjects choices and i'm not sure which would be the most competitive for entry into economics schools in London..

So far i've decided on Economics Of Financial Markets, Econometrics and Money And Banking because i'm also considering a masters in finance or direct entry into some finance firm if that makes any sense, mainly because from reading threads on this the best economics jobs involve a lot of maths, not that i'm terrible at maths i just don't particularily enjoy it, and lecturing isn't something that appeals to me.

I think what i'm most interested in is the financial markets/ sharetrading etc!

Currently my average is 71, i'm involved in a lot of societies also but I presume this is still not good enough for somewhere like LSE?

I know I haven't really asked many direct questions i'm just looking for opinions really!

You would be better of asking this in the Economics Forum.
I'll move it there for you.

Econometrics would be a good choice. You'll study econometrics in both economics and finance masters programmes. Do you have any mathematical/quantitative economics classes available? You may not like maths, but it's better to hit the maths sooner, rather than later, in my opinion. Can you provide a link with the list of classes available?

Thanks for that slippers.. This year its the same but econometrics is mandatory, would have chosen it anyway. Do you think it would be best if i pick all economics classes or would having, say and accounting subject, put me at a disadvantage?

Also i'm not sure if many of the above classes involve a lot of maths as you recommended?

I can't see any maths classes on that list. You have 15 credits as mandatory modules, yes?
    • EC349 Economic Theory 5 Semester I
    • EC350 Research Project 5 Semester II
    • EC363 Econometrics 5 Semester II
At a guess, these modules would be good choices:
    • Advanced Economic Theory
    • Money & Banking
    • Game Theory & Industrial Organization
    • International Economics
    • Economics of Financial Markets
Any of the classes on Slippers' list can be quantitative based, depending on the lecturer and the topics they've picked. See if there's a time series class given by the statistics/maths department.
