Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Brake pad warning light

Hey my brake pad warning light has popped up on my 02 vw golf. The car has been serviced a month ago and two new front pads put on! He said back pads would need to be done in a few months.

Would the warning light suggest back pads need doing or could it mean malfunction with front pads! Could it just be a reminder on the system and nothing needs to be done.

Go and get it checked, maybe the front pads are worn. There was a dodgy load of VAG pads doing the orunds a few months ago, not saying these are them. But better to get it checked out.

most likely its a faulty indication caused by a wire touching something or broken......so long as the brakes still feel normal its ok to keep driving for a while . But take it back to your mechanic and get it checked again as soon as you get the chance.

Only person who can answer this properly is your mechanic. And if its telling you there is a problem with the brake pads then Id get them to look at it sooner rather than later!

I dont think the Golf has rear bad indicators.

As far as I know the light is for front pad wear and fluid level.

Im pretty certain the warning only works on the front pad wear so in that case, it is quite odd. Either its a false warning or one of your front pads has been worn away too quickly. This could be down to partially siezed caliper or dodgy pads. Maybe your mechanic never changed the pads at all.

Check the fluid so, maybe it wasnt topped up enough after some of it was taken out for the fitting of the new pads.
