Sky Sports coverage of La Liga is embarassing. Don't start showing the Villareal game until it's 30 minutes into the match.

They only started showing Barca's game yesterday about 10 minutes into the game, some cricket on before it. It was the same witht he el clasico last season we only got to see the 2nd half because Goals on Sunday was on, they have 4 channels, you wouldn't think it would be too hard to fit it in.

To be fair to Sky on that one they are not allowed to show live football between 2.45pm and 5.15pm on a Saturday. They have no excuse for any other poor scheduling decisions. Monday night games seem to be web only and a slap to the face of anyone paying a premium price for their channels. That is absolute bollocks

Pretty sure that only counts for domestic games and not foreign.

Nope. Sky are not allowed to show any games during that time. The rule applies to England, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Wales are not covered by this. S4C shows a live Welsh league game every Saturday at 3pm.

That makes no sense. The whole point of that rule in the first place was to encourage people to go to matches on saturdays and not to watch on tv. With foreign football its not like they could go to the games in the first place. Another idiotic decision by Sky.

Sky have no say in it.

Here is the UEFA link. http://www.uefa.com/uefa/events/tv/news/newsid=19817.html

    1. UEFA and the member associations shall have the exclusive rights to broadcast and use, as well as to authorise the broadcast or use by picture, sound or other data carriers of any kind (including data carriers which have yet to be developed), matches which come within their jurisdiction, either live or recorded, in whole or as excerpts.

It is up to the FA if football can be shown in England on Saturday afternoons.

I dont get why they shouldnt - how does foreign football been shown during them times damage the game in the UK ? The answer is it does not so they shouldnt be prevented from broadcasting it. The rule must not cover internationals so because sky have regularly broadcast them on saturdays during them times.

It is up to the FA in England so they will obviously allow England games and the FA Cup final.

But that link on UEFA states games which come within their jurisdiction. I would have thought foreign games are beyond their remit.

Sky Sports and any other channel within their jurisdiction (ESPN, BBC, ITV and so on) cannot show football between the stated times. Channels outside are not affected. For example, S4C broadcast a live game every Saturday and it can be viewed in England.

If they could I would imagine that ESPN would be showing Bundesliga games every Saturday at 2.30pm.

Cool - its still a ridiculous rule they seem to be applying in fairness (as regards the foreign games).
