Garmin c510 map update

    Friend has a Garmin c510. For some time when it is turned on, a screen appears with a message saying the map is over one year old and advising upgrading. He is now looking to upgrade map however when we connected to the Garmin map update page we get the message that the unit is running the most up tp date map and no further update is currently available.

    The unit was purchased over 3 years ago and has never had a map upgrade.

    So to my question. Is it correct that this unit has no upgrade available to it or is it a case of an older sat nav not being suitable for updated maps ( possibly to encourage purchase of a newer model)?

    Any thoughts most welcome

    Go to this page:
    https://buy.garmin.com/shop/buymaps.do

    Enter the device/area/type of maps and it will list available compatible maps. It is a discontinued device though, so there might be some issues, with the amount of mapping data that can be uploaded to the device.

    They do seem to offer maps on SD card though.
