So who is coming to this on Saturday? And do you want tea or coffee? And how many sugars do you take? Will needs to know he'll be making all of it.

trick question: after everyone provides their orders, he would scoff at their ridiculous, no doubt internet-derived ideas for how they should take their coffee then post the definitive way to make it (backed up with references from reputable hot beverage journals of course)

    LOL!:D

Well probably he won't cos he actually makes coffee that you'd think was taken out of the sump of a 1984 Opel Kadett. If you as nicely I'll bring in some of my nice coffee from home. I only drink the best.

We're thinking as a rough outine of the day:
11am- arrive, meet and greet, chat, eat stuff, drink hot stuff have a walk around.
11.15 or so- basic outline of the main training goals- get stronger, get fitter, get bigger, get thinner, get faster and a brief overview of how we go about each one
11.30 or so- Strength training- the IP method hows and whys plus some lift coaching if anyone wants it
12pm or so- Conditioning training- how to lose fat and get fitter
12.30pm or so- Repetition training- getting your pump on, getting bigger and such
1pm- or so- as many questions as you want and their answers. If you fancy having a bit of training too we can walk you through that.

I'm actually not gonna be able to make this because I hate you all.

And the IPO Leinster open is on the same day and I'm wrapping one of the lads knees at it.

Best of luck to everyone on the day.

    They'd be awesome earings.

Hanley/anyone else unable to make it on Saturday- Always an open door policy at informed performance. All welcome, all the time even if it's just to come in and talk training.

Cheers Barry. I was hoping to go when other people were there so I couldn't be held down in the parking lot and bludgeoned to death with the prowler before being buried under your astrotruf...

    OK...that's pretty good.

My coffee making was ridiculed last night...it's been 6 months or so with the new coffee machine and I was only just told last night that I am supposed to be using a filter in the machine :(

p.s: I hope people realise that I'm serious about the donuts, pastry...I'm also fond of Kit Kats at other chocolate delights.

    hey Will,

I joined your gym for a month some time back and thought it was brillinat, very pricey but very very good, I couldnt hack the 80euro a month GIG and also love to just do my own thing. I lovedoing 8 rounds of skipping then your prowler for 10 minutes and my own mix of cleans and various other things. The only thing is, I felt like this was frowned upon and told thet I haed to "choose a program". that annoyed me, although for the most part I found your instruction and general approach was top of the range.

FYI, the american guy is far too intense!! to the point where I cant keep a straight face when he's talking to me!!

Great bags, great ring, great facilities over all. But you should be on your guard cos theres a new Gym arriving next to you soon, I saw a big sign for it and it looks like a similar set up!

i consider the price excellent value when you consider your getting personal training from an excellent coach,a normal PT would cost you 50 euro a session 3 times a week and would have know where near the expertise of will, also if you were going to a personal training gym with coaches ,but u were only going to do ur own thing anyway doesnt that defeat the purpose of going to that gym in the 1st place?

also the american guy was a great coach but also very funny, maybe you did not understand his jokes because he certainly is not INTENSE as u describe.

this new gym u speak off,i doubt the coaches there are as good as will at getting results so i would not be worried if i was informed performance!

I really wish I lived or worked near IP because it sounds like the best place. The price for 6 months membership is grand when you consider it includes personal training and unlimited classes of muay thai or bjj or whatever. Will sounds like a good lad. I sound like a shill or something, haha.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,818 ✭✭✭Inspector Coptoor

    Dan being described as intense.....

Do you know many Americans that aren't?

Nothing wrong with being intense, especially about training.

As far as I'm concerned, you're paying for the personal training and martial arts classes. The physical equipment they have is just there so you can do that training and take those classes.

You'd be nuts to pay that much and "just do your own thing". Yes they have some nice equipment, but there's not much there you couldn't find (or at least find a replacement for) in any half-decent gym for much less per year.

Is there any point going to this gym if your not a fighter? say if you just want to get bigger, faster and stronger?

I have no idea what the breakdown is, but there are plenty of people there who only do fitness training.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,453 ✭✭✭jugger0

Would they have many rugby players there? any gym with a prowler deserves a visit IMO.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,025 ✭✭✭d'Oracle

I believe Will has plenty of experience training Rugby players.

    yeah.
IP has a client list that would stretch from good MMA fighters to teenagers learning MMA, from GAA players to tennis players, from middle aged women to people rehabbing injuries, from powerlifters to average joes and everything and anything in between.

    Most people follow the iprogrammes.
some of them have slight modifications depending on the trainees goals and of course, the weight being used on different sessions will vary depending on ability, experience and strength levels.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,453 ✭✭✭jugger0

Agh id love to go to your gym, sounds like a class gym. Sick of all these gyms full of treadmills and machine weights playing lady gaga on loop, any chance of ye coming into the west?

you'd have to ask Will or Barry! but yeah, it is pretty awesome.

Gtown in your location = Galway?

have you trained in Galway City Gym yet?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,453 ✭✭✭jugger0

Ya man Galway city, where dreams are made!

nah im in Kingfisher, went to galway city gym once with a mate, was a bit let down though, its tiny! might head there again for a session though get a feel for the place.

I believe it's pretty much 50:50 mma/bjj to other sports and 'ordinary folk'.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 611 ✭✭✭rondog

Im a member and TBH I still cant believe its ONLY 80 a month for what you get.I dont think people realise that you can attend all teh BJJ,Muay thai and MMA classes aswell as choose from a variety of programmes that can aid in you getting bigger ,stronger, faster and im sure Will could even do a programme to improve your bedroom gymnastics if needed.
You get a Muay thai coach who has a geat fight record and was, i think irish champ?Barry as an MMA coach who also just happens to hold a purple belt in BJJ and has competed....and all under the one roof!!

A friend who pays 600 a year to a gym, that will remain unnamed, received a starting programme when he started and his fitness has not improved. He has no clue what hes doing, has no goals,is never assessed so has no motivation. He wonders why 2 years on hes actually fatter, slower and poorer. He was paying a PT 60 euro a session twice a week with no net benefit.........if he had of joined IP when he did the other gym he results woudl be worlds apart plus he would have saved a small fortune having everyting included in teh once a month price of 80 quid.

Chances are i will be seeing you on Monday the 11th as i intend to join for 3 months. Just have to sort out the logistics for getting there after work.

    Cheeers lads
