Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Matching a centre to two existing front speakers

At the moment I've got two Mission M33's that I'm very happy with for stereo use. I also have a pair of Wharfedale Valdus 100's that I was going to use for surround. The problem though is matching a centre - obviously I'd pick the M3C2 only that the M3 range aren't made anymore and it could be difficult to find. How critical is the match, and would anyone have any suggestions?

I'm going to suggest no centre... I'm running two floorstanders for fronts, and given them decent amplification, and found no need for the centre.

I recommend you try that first : plug in your surrounds and select a phantom centre and see how it works out in your room.

The best way of getting a correct centre is to use another one of whatever your front L+R are (in your case another m33). This gives the front soundstage an evens and regulates the interference between the mixing given to the speakers.

Hadn't thought of that actually... in fact the "no centre" option would suit the room I've got at the moment until whenever I move out. The other idea I had toyed with was to use the M33's for the rear, and then get a matching set for the front and centre. Then do 7.1 using the Wharfedales or else put them somewhere else with my stereo amp. Doesn't suit the finances though at the moment though!
