Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Apparent Liverpool line up according to one of Rosco's ITK's is:

Reina, Konchesky, Skrtel, Carragher, Johnson, Poulsen, Lucas, Maxi, Jovanovic, Gerrard, Torres.

If that is the team, i'm just not happy with the midfield pairing of Lucas and Poulsen. I find that partnership too pedestrian.

I'm sure at some stage we'll see Merielis, i'm looking forward to seeing him play for Liverpool.

Hopefully, Gerrard can bring his good form from the International break and with Torres getting his match sharpness back bit by bit, i like to think we can get our first away league goal of the season.

Personally, i think this one will be a draw, but i live in hope.

    Birmingham 23/10
    Liverpool 5/4
    Draw 9/4

I'll go for 0-2 to Liverpool. Not a fan of the Lucas and Poulson CM partnership though if that is the lineup.

A win is a must for Liverpool IMO but expect a tough away game.

1-1 at best 2-0 to Brum at worst.

Todays the day we find our stride 1-3 Liverpool .

There's a few reasons to be concerned. I read elsewhere Birmingham haven't been beaten at home for about a year , we've got a poor record against them in the Premiership in recent years too.

Then there's our midfield, the fact that Torres doesn't do a lot away from home etc etc.

I hope we can get going today but I just can't see it happening.

This has a draw written all over it I think, unless Torres can spray some of his magic.

Hleb is out for us today which is a pity. I can see this as a 1 all draw or 2-1 to brum.

If Torres wasn't playing I'd be saying it's gonna be a nailed on draw.

That fecker will win it most likely though.

    Torres........................you just gotta love him!

As an Everton fan, other results yesterday were very good.

In light of this, today I'd say 3-0 to Liverpool.

Is Meireles not going to be playing? I don't see him in any predicted lineups. Sure he needs time to settle and so on, but I'd have thought even now he's a far better option than Poulsen (for instance) surely? He's a CL-experienced player and an international, are Birmingham City really such an Everest for him?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,370 ✭✭✭✭8-10

Win by 3 goals and a nice jump from 15th to CL spot.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,525 ✭✭✭joe123

If Meireles doesnt start today then I cant really see the logic behind it unless its to do with a fitness reason.

Does that mean he wont start at Old trafford next weekend either?

Not confident today at all. Poulsen + Lucas is such a poor combination. The likes of Dorrans and Brunt of west brom are better than those two.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,369 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

no meireles has to be to do with fitness, surely, because Hodgson is not stupid enough to think the Poulsen/Lucas partnership has worked at all well.

    in light of that, 0-0.

or if Torres turns up, maybe, just maybe, a sneaky 0-1.

Reviewing my draw prediction, and saying we'll go to a 2-0, Torres inspired win.

it's always entertaining for me, and more importantly it's very telling, that when Torres plays we all get optimistic.

by God we need someone to help him and take some of that pressure off.

When he's fit and firing we've reason to be excited and optimistic.

Agger best be played in CB, and Meireles has to start.
Lucas & Poulsen was the worst CM pairing I've seen in a long time..:(

    Team as predicted:

Reina, Konchesky, Skrtel, Carragher, Johnson, Poulsen, Lucas, Maxi, Jovanovic, Gerrard, Torres.

Don't understand Skrtel starting ahead of Agger, more hoofing of the ball again today.

The bench looks better than the starting 11 ;)

  • Registered Users Posts: 954 ✭✭✭PaddyBomb

Looks like Birmingham have gone 4-5-1 aswell with McFadden the man to push up and support Jerome.

    Nil all at full time.

jamie redknapp has finally figured out what net spend means, well done jamie obviously took an english manager for that to happen :D

EDIT: my good mcleish is talking some sh1te, playing up to this "british mentality" crap "you know what you're getting with british players" it's called scouting alex...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,463 ✭✭✭Kiwi_knock

Big pressure on Bowyer and Gardner to get forward and support Jerome. The outcome of the game will depend on how well Ferguson contains Gerrard and Dann contains Torres. Two key battles there.

It's been a decent enough start without creating anything

Every time Gerrard takes a corner I die a little inside. :(

Johnson was just described as the best attacking right full back in the world by Robbie Savage!

nice run by johnson. some good possession and decent football

He's right I think, when he is in form he's hard to stop. Easily the best english RB.

That was a chance for Torres. Good work by Johnson. Happy to see how easy it was for him to get down the line there tbh.

    Gerrard???????????

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,415 ✭✭✭✭LuckyLloyd

Apart from a super little dink pass from Reina, we've used the ball poorly the last five minutes.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

Torres still somewhere over the Atlantic

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,415 ✭✭✭✭LuckyLloyd

That was silly from Torres. I do love hustle, but there are times when you are never getting there.

Reina has just saved Pool's bacon.

Liverpool midfield are literally doing nothing.

    Pepe to the rescue.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 7,941 Mod ✭✭✭✭Yakult

great save. but by god we are doing nothing in the middle bar losing it after a few passes going nowhere.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,415 ✭✭✭✭LuckyLloyd

Would have had no arguments if we had went 1 - 0 down there.

Hard to tell if maxi is even on the pitch. Someone should tell lucas its not against the rules to run with the ball.
