rite so ive decided over the next while im going to do at least one tourist thing a week, having been born and bred in Dublin and having travelled allot, ive come to the conclusion that ive seen more sites in other Europeans cities than my own, so im looking for a list of things to do and see, the usual tourist thing and the not so usual. Tomorrow im heading into dublinia to get the ball rolling :D

    The Jameson distillery,

    The Guinness' Brewery and Hopstore,

    The phoenix park,

    Christchurch,

Trinity College and the book of kells.

    Kilmainham Jail.

One of those literary tours if they're still on,

    Dublin Castle.

    Croke Park Museum.

Just off the top of the head.

Ive no problem with the thread. Hope it isn't deleted.:o

Its just that a thread started in AH requesting information about cork city was very quickly redirected by the mods to the appropriate section a few days ago.

I just want to see the same code of practice imposed upon a thread about dublin. Keep things nice & fair. No double standards & all that.:)

    Gotta be a corkman :P

The Dublin Wheel, it's new but on a good day it's pretty cool. I went on it and visited Dublin Castle & The Guinness Storehouse last month and it was a great day out.

The Casino in the Marino. You would be amazed at how many dubs do not know about that amazing building. It looks small on the outside but its an illusion....

It shuts at the end of october

Such a good idea! I've started to do this 'tourist in your own city' thing also, as like a lot of my fellow countrymen/women, I now have a lot of time on my hands. Recently went to Number 29 Fitzwilliam Street Lower, which is the Georgian House the ESB refurbished in 1988 to say sorry to Dublin people for knocking down the rest of the flippin' street. Might be an idea to buy yourself a Heritage Card which will give you a discount at some centres.

I recently visited Newbridge House in Donabate and just went to visit the farm. It was excellent value for money at €4 for an adult. There was an impressive amount to see, including chicks hatching in the incubators. Next time I would borrow nieces/nephews as there is plenty of space for picnics and also an adventure playground.

St.Anne's Park in Fairview is also worth a visit if it is sunny. There is a miniature car racing track, which is excellent if there is a race on. Check out orcaireland.ie to see when the next event is. The rose garden is beautiful in the summer.

I agree about visiting Casino Marino. It is hidden away near a housing estate in Marino, but is well worth checking out. Even though it was built as a folly there was an obsession with symmetry and appearance- even the downpipes were disguised with sculptures so as to appear perfect.

My husband and I have slowly been visiting places on our random "jewels of the northside tour".
