No. I used to go to school in dublin city centre. I remember 2 of the worst skangers coming in one day in their shell suits, both accused each other of being a skanger. Both got offended when they were called skangers too and got very agressive.

I don't think they do, in the same way that very posh people don't realise they are posh. You compare yourself to who is around you and most of the time we are surrounded by our own socio-economic group.

It's like asking "do the educated-class realise they're nothing more than pods bred from birth to be nothing more mindless cogs in an economic machine?". They are aware of the components of day-to-day existence and are happy to remain such so long as they have a peer group to reinforce the notion that their position is acceptable or at least preferable to some other group.
