Best free PC games?

Hey, got a new laptop with basic integrated graphics but it should handle old-ish games well. I'm looking for the best freeware or free pc games out there. I'm a big fan of Transport Tycoon so I've been playing ALOT of it, it's especially great now it's free and has a community behind it. anything else I should check out?

If you're into flight sims (well, arcade style) B-17 Flying Fortress is free.

That's excellent. I remember many nights of no sleep playing that on the amiga.
