he should look around Cityside, Lanesborough and Hampton Wood, both walking distance ot the call centre. Also it's only about 25 minutes on the bus to town off-peak, 35 minutes-40 minutes at peak on the 140.

    +1
Cityside, Lanesbourgh and that are a 2 min walk. 140 bus runs every 10 mins, so pretty well catered for in order to get there.

    what is he looking for?
    room only?
    apartment?
    B&B?

Charlestown is only a short walk away too, there are apartments above the shopping centre.

OP son is on a placement until january which is only 3-4 months.

will it not be difficult to get accomodation/lease for a 3 month period ?

He'd probably be alright - tell him look for shares on daft.ie

Merely suggesting that Charlestown is also near, someone might have a room in an apartment over the shopping centre. Looking on daft anyway most rooms seem to have 12 months on them in the Finglas area.

If he drives its what i would do, i have done longer commutes on the same road. Its a good road now, and motorway the whole way. Im guessing maybe 8 or half 8 start, he would get away from leaving at half 6 or 7. Roughly would take about an hour, but would have to allow a little for traffic at newlands
