Great result!! Great result! Could be the turning point in our season, coming from behind when we looked dead and buried! Over the moon! COYS!!

I have to question Harrys selection , playing VDV a left footed player on the right of midfield , yet he was rarely there .
We got out of jail today .

    A. Hutton looks far more comfortable at right back than Corluka.

I think harry sent out a strong message to the squad after kabouls blunder. All the subs improved the game for us and it should be clear to the lads that if they aren't doing it, someone else (potentially) will.

I have been saying a long time that Corluka is just strolling it at Spurs. Remember how injuries gave Bale a chance, maybe now Hutton will grab his chance too.

Hutton is a very good attacking full back but he's not great defensively to be honest so maybe against teams we find hard to break down have him in.

From a Wolves perspective I thought we played pretty well. Good defensively and frustrating Spurs. Could have easily gone on to a draw and maybe a win until that stupid stupid peno to undo all the hard work. Although I was pleased with how we turned it on after the peno and attacked pretty consistently. Thought we'd put our heads down and take the draw.

Plenty of chances for Spurs though, great down the wing. Can't believe some of the sitters Keane missed (or maybe I can...).

well corluka isnt a good defender either so hutton is the best choice at present cos at least he can run in the forward direction!

a draw would have been a fair result today. we were flattered by the score line. we could have easily lost it, hopefully the heads will rise now and confidence will rise. jenas and vdv very good again today as was bale.

harry has said it before that kaboul isnt a right back cos his positioning sense is terrible. the two cb's tried to play offside for the goal but kaboul played them on. mistake on his part but he was playing out of position in fairness.

today solves nothing in my opinion, we still have lots of problems. we have nothing up front at all. crouch got man of the match today, no idea why?

pav had ran offside about 5 times in ten mins before the ball fell at his feet, good finish though

and robbie, what can i say that i already havent said about him.

  • Registered Users Posts: 133 ✭✭awkwardboy

No idea how we managed to win that game. Just relieved we did. Hutton looked the part when he came on. Think he has to be given a chance a right back now, as Corluka and Kaboul have not impressed there to be honest.
We really need a world class striker as a replacement for Robbie though, a lot of huff and puff from him today but I think his best years may be behind him now and we need someone with real class who can get us out of jail like on days like today.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,776 ✭✭✭Big Pussy Bonpensiero

I think Jim summed it up. Now that the euphoria has worn off it was a poor performance. Looking for positives though, I'd almost say we played like champions (yes, champions!), getting out the result despite being so lacklustre, almost. This however, could have huge significance, its the first time in a while (dont know exactly how long) we've came from behind and won. Thrilled about that.
Also secretly happy Foley didnt get sent off, have him in FF... If we lost/drew though I would've been furious he didn't go, shocking decision to keep him on.

    I 100% sympathise with you.

There is honestly nothing worse than having a FF player playing against your team, it's a truly horrible feeling to watch him score, cheer, and then want to cry at the same time.

  • Registered Users Posts: 124 ✭✭Undercover

Corluka is hands down a better defender that Hutton, although something's not right with him this season. He can look painfully slow when exposed but he's solid enough most of the time. While Hutton is a valuable asset for these sort of games in terms of him bombing forward he'd be targetted as a weak link by the top sides. Hopefully Walker will fill this position eventually.

Fantastic result today given the circumstances, hopefully it'll give us a lift to kick on in the league. COYS.

we got lucky today , cant watch keano anymore lads , he looked a sorry sight up front today.

keano's past it alright. sad to see but he just doesn't cut it anymore. we got out of jail but it was good to get the win, particularly after a midweek game in europe. getting modric, dawson and defoe back will be a huge bonus. modric and van der vaart could be a fantastic mix in the middle. we still need a top quality striker though. if we can keep sniffing around the top four come january and reach the knock out stages in europe i reckon levy might break open the cheque book.

Good 3 points without playing particularly well.
Shocked Lennon didn't come on 15 minutes earlier.

Gas to think at the start of play Hutton was 3rd choice right full, and yet he made such a big difference on the game, fair play, credit where it's due.

VDV didn't have as much an influence as I think he is best behind the striker, in saying that,he was still good. We need to wrap him up for next weekend, as he is going to prove vital for us.

Thought robbie did ok, should have done better with the header from Bales cross though.

I came in here to ask about Keane, I wondered if he's be inspired by playing his first English club, sounds like the answer is no.

    Ya,

He put 3 past them in 07 IIRC, so IRS easy to see a difference in the shadow that he is now. Very sad to see, I've said a few times he was and to a point is a hero of mine.

Haha just saw Pav's celebration he stuck his Jersey on the corner flag and started waving it :) Gotta love that guy

Delighted with the win today, as we said before the game it was vital to get the 3 points on get our league season back on track after a couple of disappointing results.

Van der Vaart really is a class act, delighted to have him at our club!! Hutton had a huge impact when he came on. The RB position is very much up for grabs and he put himself in line for more regular appearances with todays performance.

I'm very worried about our forwards, we are creating plenty chances but are struggling to convert them.

I thought we deserved to win but yes we made hard work of it. You have to also credit Wolves in that they came with a game plan to hold, frustrate, time waste and double man mark Bale. It nearly worked for them. They actually started to play football once we had got level from the spot.

I think we just have to accept that some teams are going to come to WHL and play this way. That's where the quality has to come through and break them down.

Disappointed that again, we conceded just before half time. Becoming a bad habit.

I think we've finally found our penalty taker in Van Der Vart. Cool as a cucumber.

I would say our man of the match was Gallas. Looked quality throughout. But he did go down without a challenge near the end and was holding the back of his calf. Wonder if that will be his 'get out' for not playing against Arsenal on Tuesday.

Thought Robbie played reasonably well. Only really had one half chance but should have had been given more. Couple of occasions that he was the obvious choice and ball was played elsewhere, which makes you start to wonder.

Fair play to Hutton, he changed the game for us by taking on that mazy dribble which brought the peno.

Last thing I'd add about today was the Wolves fans. Good vocal support like most away fans but a serious complex about refereeing decisions. They should remember they werent playing against whinging wengers lot today. Other than the fact the ref let Wolves waste far too much time. I'd say he got most things just about right.

No way Gallas is fit enough to play two games in a week yet we're you at Cudicinis end first half? Did Gallas' tackle look a peno to you McCarthy is the only one who's mentioned it no one else has at all

See a mention on COYS that some Wolves fan got a bot of a bashing but other Spurs fans intervened.

You do know he'd done his hamstring and that's why he was subbed, don't you?

My first thought was no but then i couldnt think of anyone else , Kevin Doyle i thought played a great game for Wolves he beat Ledley most of the time .Jenas played well but was in and out of the game , Huddlestone isnt back to his best, Bale once again gave great service.

Great day at the Lane yesterday,I thought at 1-0 down and Wolves doing there best time wasting tactics that the game would fizzle out but Hutton made a big difference when he came on and won the penalty, delighted that VDV was playing he was class.we were down at the stadium early and were lucky enough to meet a few Spurs Legends on there way in,got autographs and photos with Paul Allen,Clive Allen,John Pratt and best of all the great Martin Chivers:)then we got word that the players were arriving at the Paxton road car park so we headed over there and managed to get our photos taken with Bale,Hudd,Pav,Bassong,It was absolutely brilliant.

PS;I never thought I would see the day that I would ask William Gallas for his Autograph.;)
