House Insurance Rebuild Costs

Hi Folks,

Have a 3 Bed Mid Terrace House in Charlesland Court (122sq m or 1317sq ft), any idea what I should be detailing as the rebuild cost for the purpose of House Insurance,

Anyone else also notice there House Insurance costs went up this year as well,

covered under block insurance surely? that was certainly the case in Grove/Park when I lived there - we only had contents insurance.

Thanks Rosiejoe, I had seen that table of costs but nothing was listed for Wicklow, I guess for a conservative estimate I should find some happy ground between the 2 highest listed.

Dublin Area- € €171sq ft
Galway Area-€€130 sq ft

loyatemu- Not sure what this 'block insurance ' is you mention, I have my own seperate policy for house rebuild which details content list as well,

your management fee may include an insurance element - the management company takes out an insurance policy to cover the entire "block" of terraced houses. Its usually done in apartment blocks, but in the case of the Grove&Park management co. it definitely covered the terraced houses also.

AFAIK each house in the Wood and the Court need their own seperate buildings insurance - these being the masonry built houses. Apartments and duplexes are a different matter and fall under Block insurance.

As you say Loyatemu, houses in the Grove and the Park are covered through the management companies fees; due to the nature of the building being timber framed.

In this case for the Court, they are masonry built, and it is up to each house owner to organise their own buildings insurance. And if changing from an Insurer provided directly by your mortgage company, the mortgage company will require a copy of the certificate of indemnity - more than likely a requirement under the mortgage t's & c's.
