Id say they make more then that in an hour wouldn't they?

Walked up through Catherine Street there this evening and saw three girls outside a HSE building. Two of them weren't so obviously prostitutes but it was fairly certain that one was on the game (not doubt the three of them were of course when they were together). One was wearing a red dress and showing an awful lot of leg. The other two weren't so scantily clad. Would be thinking at least two of them were of South or Central American descent...Didn't get a great look at the third girl. There is a Spar almost directly across the road from where they were hanging out. Thought it very brazen of them to be touting for business out on the street. Thought they usually operated from safe houses for want of a better word.

In Bold above, You describe most women on a night out here in any part of Ireland or the world, so that not unusual. I have see women and girls out at night all over this country that are scantily clad in Freezing weather. I have seen Women who dress so badly that even the lady of the night would be embarrass to wear. I have also seen a young woman wear a piece of gold colour sparkling string to hide the nipples and a gold colour handkerchief type clothing to not so hide the vital bits in the lower region and her small handbag had more material than her clothing (Sorry readers, I need to dramatically tone down my choice of words for censorship reasons so I leave it to your imagination to fill in the bits which will I assure you will not be wrong). I assume you think she is plying her trade because she talks to men in their cars looking for a ride (in more ways than one, she was also drunk).

Where else are they suppose to apply and advertise their trade. They have a business to run and they need to advertise their goods to a wider audience and they need more of your advertisement. It is a deep recession after all.
They need to expand their services to a wider audience as the bankers, developers, Construction related business , builders and ex workers from dell etc have no money. The safe house are from borrowed money which now belongs to NAMA and they are adjusting to the times, economy and the New situation and the most adaptable of services through the good times and the rough.

Well pretty much true enough for you there limklad. Having said that there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that the three I saw were on the game. It was too obvious really from the way they were standing in the same spot, not particularly engaging in conversation with each other to any large extent and eyeing up passing motorists. On your point though suppose it wouldn't be too much fun if they dressed like nuns either! Think lots of girls actually dress conservatively enough here overall though all the same compared to UK or Northern Ireland....some are obviously more daring like the girl you talk about. Now that you mention it though I do sometimes wonder how girls are able to put up with the freezing cold on a Winters night wearing practically nothing standing in the same spot waiting for taxis and that.

Suppose the other side of that is that rents are coming down and that if they cant afford brothels or safe houses limklad as think thats the angle you are looking at it from...bit of a different subject to the one in hand I suppose. I know if I was that way inclined to go pick up a prostitute I wouldn't dare kerb crawl. Would be in dread of the Guards on a stakeout nearby ready to arrest the next unsuspecting motorist or even a newspaper reporter taking snaps with my car registration number for all readers to see. Suppose the next chap might not care so much though.

I live on Catherine street and I've really only noticed the hookers in the last month or so.
As I live on Catherine Street I have a parking permit for Roches Street and Catherine Street. I regularly drive around and around looking for a parking space at night (especially at the weekends). I'm a bit careful in where I park as the car will be there overnight or for a couple of days so I don't just take the first space I see. Last Saturday as I passed gleesons for the third time on my hunt for the perfect space I suddenly had the horrifying thought that I'm going to get pulled over for curb crawling. Then reality set in and I realised that I rarely see any Gardai on Catherine street so what was I worrying about.
I was a bit surprised last week when I was walking back from french class that there were hookers touting for business at 8.30pm as I walked past. They weren't there at 7pm when I walked up.

Was walking past the other night and three hoe's were hanging around on the corner by old church with the bank machine, there was a squad car across the road and the cops were cracking jokes with either their pimps or some punters (really sleazy looking sort, having a laugh with the gardai about something)

    Thought it was odd

No doubt there are worse things happening finbarrk. But should Gardai resourses be put to better use in dealing with these worse things rather than chatting and cracking jokes with whom another poster reckon to be the pimps? I suppose that would be too much like common sense though.

Also, whatever way you look at its hardly right that the cops should be cracking jokes with these guys when they should be arresting them.

Yes, the cops should locking up and arresting everyone that an internet forum poster believes might have been pimps. Mob justice is where it's at.

You're absolutely right I could have seen it out of context, but thats what it looked like to me.

Also was just walking up barrington street near the people's park (near the big church there) and there was hoe's on the side of the road there, local girls this time I could tell from the ''LOOOOOOVE ARE YOU LOOOOKING FOR SOME BUSINESS LOOOOOOOOVE'' accent

Or better still pick the scumbags up of the streets besides wasting taxpayers money and limited resources chatting and exchanging nicities with these pimps or whoever they are. In the meantime chat to these pimp like guys on their own watch. Then if Gardai done a good job of picking the scumbags up from the street and keeping that situation under control I'd even actually be more than happy for them to have a laugh with these guys on the taxpayers watch. That would seem an even better idea still to me.

Sorry for resurrecting an old thread but has anyone noticed that the ladies of the night have moved down as far as Roches street now.
I've seen them there last night and Monday night, reasonably early around 9pm.
I didn't mind it so much when it was up the other end of the street but now it's right outside my door.
Is there anything the guards can do?

Spotted two of them tonite walking past the Pery Hotel[very handy location I guess!;)] The two of them looked like they were from the Rott-e-weiler escort agency!! I mean Rough, rough!
Anyways Catherine St and place, are two of the darkest holes inLimerick now at night. The street looks like it could do with demolition from the Spar shop up to the corner of Barrington St.If all everyone is worried about is a few working girls up there they are missing the bigger picture. The place is a drug dealers paradise..Since the accomadation is cheap up there ,you have a couple of old buildings full of scobes, anti social types and undesireables living it up,partying and generally making noise until all hours there, not to mind dealing out on the kerb.

Be more worried about that than a few old boilers in mini skirts hanging around the place.
