Not sure if I have the right forum, but does anyone know a good place to get a small portable power generator capable of powering 2/3 halogen lights outdoors for an hour or so at a time? Also what kind of power output should I be looking for? Thanks in advance..

do u want to rent or buy one?

If u have 2 or 3 sets or pairs of halogen lights, (I'm assuming you mean the outdoor tri-pod work lights!) just count 1 bulb as 500watts... so add them all up... if u have 4 bulbs thats 4 x 500 = 2000watts.... or 2kw.

so get a generator capable of running at 2-5kva (kw) or whatever is closest...

Just get a slightly stronger one than needed.... so it will work more efficiently!

(Also. if you are renting.. the hire shop will know what power you will need!)

Beware of the noise output in a residential area as after 1800 you will have an issue if too loud

Kva and Kw are not quite the same thing but close enough on a small genny alright.
