Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

A bit vague....! Have you a budget in mind? Do you want an hardtail or full sus?

Have you loads of spare parts to put into the new build? If not just buy a descent hardtail for the winter..... doesn't have to be mega bucks....

Full sus is what Im looking at, I have a set of Mavic Crossmax SLR wheels but I would need to get everthing else, I have seen a nice Santa Cruz frame and the S Works have caught my eye aswell. I want to have this project to do on the dark winter nights and to learn more about bike mechanics, any tips?

I think you probably need to think a little more about what you will actually use the bike for before deciding what frame to buy? As far as I know there are no recent S-Works frames available in alloy? If you are keeping the La Pierre then you should probably consider something a little more "All Mountain" - possibly a Giant Trance or a Specialized Enduro?

These sort of builds often turn into money pits but if you have the money and it's more of a project to learn about the mechanics of the bike sure go for it.

Frame..well ... hmmmmm..... here is one for sale.. http://mtbireland.com/forum/viewthread.php?thread_id=1493 not sure how much travel you're after.... XC, Marathon or freeride....

or...you could buy this... http://mtbireland.com/forum/viewthread.php?thread_id=1501 and just sell your wheels..!

If you're looking for a low(er) maintenance full-sus, Santa Cruz have recently dropped the price of the Superlight and Heckler frames (both single-pivot).

as a past heckler owner i can loudly sing the praises or their suspension system. i would also look at the deals on the Canyon website.
