It's a great course if you want a career in network engineering or design
its not really an electrical dicipline

It's no harm as you can contract for running CAT cables, server room power easier I'd imagine. I would say don't do it if you don't have an interest as you could get by otherwise like most people do (Eircom technicians etc).

Hi thank you for the reply. I cable small offices and buildings and felt it would be an advantage if i knew more about networking. Also when i install cctv people want to see there premises over the internet. Don't understand what you mean about Eircom technicans. Is there a specific course for this?
    Thanks again

Any further thoughts would be appreciated

CCNA covers very little on cabling, it is more about configuring routers and switches, setting up a small business with a network that sort of thing.

You can get a job straight out of CCNA usually monitoring a network for a large company, or configuring routers and switches.

For an electrician I would hope you have decent computer skills if you plan to do CCNA, you don't need to be an expert but be prepared to put the work in at the start if know very little. The course is thought to people with very little computer skill but it moves rapidly though that section.
