    Hi,

I have a transformer that connects to the US sockets. AC Input: 120V/60Hz
    800mA.
    DC Output: 27V - 0.8A, 22W

As far as I know, the input in ireland coming from the socket is 220/240V?:o

Can I get a 'stepdown' transformer like this: SS215.JPG.

So would it work if I plug the stepdown transformer in to the socket, plug in the US plug and on with the switch?:)
Just want to know that it wont blow!
    Thanks

yes- you can step down with a trafo and into the power supply

the trafo VA rating will need to be above the PS rating

Where could I get this from? How much would it cost?

    Thanks.

you could look at getting a new PS

-if not, a trafo for your existing PS

The voltage in Ireland, and all of the Europe (EU and beyond) is 230V 50Hz.

    That transformer will work fine.

Your best bet, if you don't want really huge bulky, is to get an appropriate power supply for your appliance. Drop into Peats, Maplins or look online.

You just need to find a transformer that outputs the correct voltage and that can supply at least .8A (800mA).
