Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Memory Card Retrieval

    Hey guys

Just did a very silly thing and deleted the contents of a memory card that I hadn't uploaded yet. The images aren't THAT important that I would want/need to be paying for a method of retrieval, but if there's a free one knocking about that's any use I'd love to know.

A quick google threw up some dodgy sites and some Windows only solutions. So if there's any Mac ones too, that'd be awesome!

    Cheers!

There's a unix/linux utility called foremost which does a good job at automatically finding and recovering deleted files off media, including doing things like looking for files that look like images.

    Homepage is http://foremost.sourceforge.net/

And here is a page that apparently shows how to install it on Mac OS X:

    http://foremost.darwinports.com/

I've used it before to recover deleted photos off a memory card and it worked a treat.

During the holidays I did a stupid thing - I just added the photos lightroom - I didn't actually copy the photos off the memory card.

I then preceded to delete the photos off the memory card thinking that they were on my pc and took some more photos.

And there this evening i looked for my photos on lightroom and it said it was a preview only, the original was not available.

Cue this fantastic bit of freeware software.

    http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/PhotoRec

Recovered 286 photos - every one that was lost.

Hope this helps someone in the future :)

And its available on Mac OSX too :)

Its a totally awesome bit of software
