Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Who recommended it to you?

Personally I've never heard of fish oil having an effect on hyperactivity. What's his sugar intake like?

public health nurse recommended it, apparently children with ADHD have a lack of omega 3 oil so this helps replace it apparently

as for his sugar intake ,we are very strict with this, ive changed his menu..gone organic, no sugar or low sugar -even fruits , trying foods with low e numbers ect... but he still is really hyperactive. weve been to the doctors and theyve referred us to a specialist who will assess him in 2 weeks time

My eldest girl went nuts when she was about 2 and a half, 3... i thought it was the terrible 2's but my mam said there's no such thing check out her diet.. so we started taking a close look at what she was eating and discovered the most random things would set her off!!

When you start reading and understanding labels on food you get a fright at how much sugar is in food aimed at kids!!! Reading the labels on cereal packets you'd put them in the biscuit aisles not the cereal one!!

So we cut it all out and it wasn't easy for the first while but i was expecting my 2nd girl and i couldn't cope with a mad 3 year old too!!

It was well worth it though she calmed right down and if she did get something she shouldn't you'd know it after about 10 mins, you could actually see the difference in her, her eyes went glassy and she'd get very agitated!!

My GP at the time told me what on the outside usually comes from the inside, so before you shell out loads for supplements that probably won't make a difference check out his diet.. it can't do any harm...;)
    Hope it's some help

It's widely used but takes about 12 weeks to fully kick in. I use Udo's oil, it's organic and not from fish (that may swim in polluted waters.)

Sorry just from reading the original post didn't realise he had ADHD which is not what my one had... she just couldn't tolerate sugars in any form...lactose glucose fructose dextrose etc... so i'm not really much help!! :) although one of the biggest secret offenders for setting her off was tomato sauce full of sugar!!

Udos oil is made from vegetables which do not break down all the nutrients naturally and this has to be done through a manufacturing process whereas the fish does all the work naturally. I would recommend unless you are a vegetarian to stick to the natural fish oils such as Eye Q. I've heard a few stories from people with children with attention problems that have been on it it and raved about it. I've seen it myself on their facebook page which i am a fan of! That being said certain things do not work for everyone but there can't be any harm in keeping him on it, the benefits are proven for general health and not just for attention problems.
