Sound not working post XP fresh install

Hey guys my head is melted here. I am giving my folks my Dell Dimension 9150 desktop as I am going to build a pc. So I decided to do a fresh install for xp so they get a nice fresh computer.

Anyway I have done the install and now theres no sound from it. I have installed drivers from the recovery disk and nothing seems to be working has anyone got any advice?

I recently formatted my Acer and re-installed XP and all the drivers. It's my third time to do so, but last time I had similiar problems getting the sound to work.

From my experience with my Realtek Driver, make sure you have the right driver downloaded, then install it as normal, when prompted to restart, let it do so immediately, and sound should be working normal on restart.

It seems like a relatively simple fix, and I was skeptical the first time I had to do it, but this time I did it and it worked flawlessly. Obviously my set up is probably different to yours so there's no guarantee it will work but it might be worth a try when waiting for more experience posters to get back to you.

OP download Device Doctor. It'll scan for updates or required drivers and give you a link to download them.

With that and the previous one there are no audio drivers needed according to them.

That doesnt open for some reason all I am getting is:

Someone needs to reboot the Dell server for access to be restored, seems strange thought it would have been a server cluster

Got sorted bloody hell I have spent the whole day at this
And it turns out it was a simple fix when I went to sounds and audio devices in the control panel default device was set to SB live! 24bit and I switched it to Sigma Tel audio and walla we have sound
