It's approximately 5 miles as the crow flies.
    Unfortunately, you're going across town.

Might be easier to, at Heuston, take a LUAS in to town and get a taxi from there to St Vincents.
It would be a bit more direct anyhow.

You'd get more answers asking in the Dublin forum instead of the Galway one..

Just take a cab from the station, the most expensive part of hiring a cab is the initial hiring charge. A cab from the station to Vincents will cost you €17-20. If you get the Luas into town, the cab will still cost you €14-17 plus your Luas fare! Just make sure you pick a nice clean modern car from the rank and remember, you do not have to take the first car on the rank.

    Good thinking.
I forgot about the DART connection from Connolly to Sydney Parade.

OP : get your train from Galway to Heuston.

At Heuston take LUAS to Connolly Station.
At Connolly Station take a DART to Sydney Parade station.

Sydney Parade station is a 5 minute walk from St Vincents Hospital.

(LUAS runs every couple of minutes and DART's are very frequent also).

Or get 145 from Heuston to RTÉ, 5 minute walk to Vincents from there.

Does the 145 go to Heuston?! didn't know that. Must use it from now on.

    What cookie monster said.

There is a 4/a every 15 or so mins during the week, so that would prob be your best bet (and the stop is right outside Vincents)
7 would be next in frequency.

I cant remember the last time i saw a 5 or an 8, so i'd lean towards the 4/a or 7.

5 and 8 rare enough alright but no need to let them run past you if they do turn up ;)
