For Sky Italia , you need a subscription.
    do a google.
    lots of sellers.
approx same price as Sky Ireland per month

For Al jazeera, you need a viewing card.
    should cost about 150
    do a google

In Italy yes, Sky is cheaper. But we're not talking about that.

As I don't live in Italy, I am going on resale prices
    which is clearly obvious.

Are you sure you're looking in the right places???
Sky Ireland WITHOUT espn/setanta is €91 a month for HD which works out at €1092 a year, say €1100 when you add on the credit card fees.
Add ESPN it goes to €1244
Add Setanta and you arrive at €1447!!
The top Sky IT pack with HD costs €69 a month, €828 a year, and the activation fee brings it to €850. Even when you add on the resellers fee (usually €200) it still works out cheaper.
