Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

intravenous antibiotics

Curious to know, Has anyone here ever had odd reactions after getting intravenous antibiotics ?

A few months back had a few problems with my right foot.
Had an infected big toe from an ingrown toe nail, what I thought
was athletes foot, and then I tripped on the stairs and landed on it,
causing it to go black and blue. Skin on the foot used to weep and itch
like crazy and I ended up tearing the skin off the foot in my sleep.

After going to the doctor, he got pretty alarmed sent me to hospital
and they would not leave me out because of the infection and high blood pressure. I spend a few days getting intravenous antibiotics followed by a week of tablets.

Since I have come out of hospital (I thought it was my imagination first)
every morning and evening I start to sneeze constantly, and I'm snotting and sneezing, blocked nose, runny nose etc, My Nose has become super sensitive to everything. The Air from the air-conditioning in work and the car, when I get home in the evening I think my nose is reacting to my cats hair. The faintest of sprays for de-odourent, or if I get a whiff of perfume
    sets me off.

I have hayfever but it rarely bothers me except the odd time in the summer,
and anti-histamines help a little. After a followup trip to the Doctor
he reckoned sometimes the IV anti-biotics are very strong and can cause
your allergies to go out of whack. Its starting to annoy me now since its
been a few months and there is no sign of the symptoms going away.

    ~B

    Go back to your Doctor.
If you are not happy with what he tells you get a second opinion with another doctor.

no forum on boards allows medical advice.

you need to speak to your doctor again, or to another doctor if you have concerns about their management
