Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Why televise this game when it's going to be little more than a reserve team game?

Nothing more than a distraction - perhaps Wenger can serve his 1 match ban for this one ?

Congrats to Spurs. They now join the ranks of clubs for whom the league cup is little more than a chance for young players

It's great entertainment though, I look forward to it every year.

I reckon Arsenal's team will be along the lines of:

    Szczesny
    Eboue Djourou Squillaci Gibbs
    Eastmond Denilson
    JET Lansbury Randall
    Vela

Though with the number of injury concerns it's very hard to tell.

I wonder will Spurs put out a weakened team or will 'Arry be too concerned in 'getting one over' on Wenger and play a full side.

Former and we should win, latter and Spurs should.

Off with him if he does, I think it'd be foolish considering they have the champions league to contend with now.

Can see spurs fielding a strong team so that they can have a chance of releasing another "Famous victory" DVD

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,500 ✭✭✭Fuzzy_Dunlop

Rumours now that it may in fact be Arsenal bringing a strong squad. With the only real reserve players being Lansbury, Eastmond and JET.

If this is true than something like Pepe's team looks about right, just replace Randall with Wilshere/Rosicky/Nasri I guess. Fabianski in goal too:( Strong bench though if this is the case.

Is this Tuesday evening or Wednesday evening?

I am looking forward to it.

Yeah I saw that, and YoungGuns is generally pretty reliable about these things. If so, the team will probably be more like:

    Fabianski :(
    Eboue Djourou Squillaci Gibbs
    Eastmond
    Denilson Lansbury
    JET Vela Rosicky

... with a strong bench. Nasri and Wilshere look like they'll start in the league next weekend so it'd be a real surprise to me if they started, particularly considering the lack of games for Denilson, Rosicky and the youngsters.

Ya we are all very excited about him and yet we have never seen him lay so it's going to be interesting but you can't make the Brazil Team if your useless.

The peoples overwhelming choice for england manager field a weakened team, i think not.

He already said he will field a weakened team but we have a squad which needs to be playing as well the likes of Niko Bently Gio palacios Keane Pav all need more game time so they will be available we have an 18 year old that looks like he's going to be playing CB alongside Bassong Sandro too needs to start playing and then there's Hutton so while it's not the first team there is still plenty of very good players to come in.

Redknapp says he looks and runs like Socrates, nothing on him playing ability though!

Ya I've read all that alright I don't know how hes going to turn out hopefully not the next Boogers though :P. He was signed off Dunga's and the chief scout's recomendation and he's in the Brazil National team's squad so can't be too bad. Hopefully he puts his head down and gives 120% from the get go.

Wenger is serving his touchline ban tonight, so presumably Pat Rice will be in charge (at least as far as appearances go :p)

  • Site Banned Posts: 2,719 ✭✭✭DB10

I'm surprised Wenger didn't take the ban vs West Brom which he could have.

This is a more important game I feel. We probably need Wenger on the sidelines more in this game than at the weekend.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,570 ✭✭✭✭Frisbee

G'wan Ricey! Hope he brings Bould in as his assistant for the evening.

And goes all out and dresses Mourinho style.
And runs around like a madman in his technical area.

And gives us at least one double fist pump.

He could have? I'm happy enough that he's not missing the league game to be honest!

I agree but I think the younger/reserve players would probably need more instructions tonight about positioning etc.

Meh suppose Rice is well fit for it. Really hope P.Rice takes the interview beforehand, been years since I heard him say anything!:pac:

Where did you see that? None of those interest me, what's the rest of the team?

  • Users Awaiting Email Confirmation Posts: 15,001 ✭✭✭✭Pepe LeFrits

Hard to know who will play where in that team. 5 CMs plus Vela.

I was hoping Wenger would play Conor Henderson. Maybe if it wasn't Spurs.

Think Henderson has a knock anyway.

Looking forward to this. Surprised at how strong the Arsenal team is. I think it shows though that Squillachi and the Verminator will be the first choice CB pairing. I would also say that Wilshere will probably not start this weekend.
