Killererin are the Galway Champions. They beat Corofin by 3 points.

The Gardi were the real winners on the day. I've never seen so many cars with tickets. Fair enough the cars were parked up on the kerb, but they only did that so not to block up the road.

Minutes into the match there was a call from the PA for the owner of a call to go to it as the Guards were looking for some information. It turns out that the ower of the car was reported to have but a baby into the boot of the car. When the owner of the car got there the shades were waiting for her. It turned out to be a doll.

This will only help the - We hate going to Salthill "tuam is the best" army!

i think dr crokes can go on and win the all ireland now at club level. the amount of talent they have is unreal. were robbed of it 3 years ago. on top of the all ireland winners with kerry such as the gooch, brosnan, cremin, o leary, they have loads of players with inter county experience at minor and u-21 level.

hopefully maloney and buckley get a go at kerry seniors next year, along with possibly the return of cremin and brosnan who all have plenty to offer. even o donavan has a chance of making the panel.

hopefully they will go all the way in this, i think they can.

I think Crokes are playing Monaleen in the next round of Munster. Don't know the date. They do have a great chance of winning the All Ireland. Cooper was just majestic the last day. Best forward in the country by a long way.

The Kerry Senior Hurling Final was played last Sunday week. Ballyduff beat Lixnaw by 9 points. It was closer than it sounds. Only a couple of points in it with 5 mins to go.

Ballyduff are now dropping down to the Intermediate in Munster as they would be out of their depth playing Senior. Don't know who they are playing but they would be in with a good shout of advancing to the next round if they get a home draw.

Not without Griffin, Magee and Davoren. They've got serious strength in depth for a club side, particularly in defence but injuries have hit them hard this year. They may win Leinster but the All Ireland is a step too far for them imo.

St. Finbarrs/Nemo Rangers final in Cork football.

Huge game on Sunday. Shields is skipping the first International Rules game in Limerick to play. Legendary Cork City player Neal Horgan (Hoggy) will be lining out for the Barrs too. Great rivalry between the two clubs, everyone knows each other, lots of lads played together for Chríost Rí. I can't wait for it, it's going to be a cracker! C'mon Nemo!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,460 ✭✭✭Orizio

Is Horgan starting? Thought he was a sub. What is his position usually?

Duhallow/Newtown U-21 Hurling on the Saturday, the double header on the Sunday and Midleton/Na Piarsigh Minor Hurling - not a bad weekend.

Hope the persistent heavy rain that is forecast doesn't ruin things this weekend.

O'Loughlin Gaels won the Kilkenny Hurling Final beating Carrickshock by 0-17 to 1-11.

Old Leighlin won Carlow football final. 1-11 to 0-7.

Well deserved too, and Irelands Brendan Murphy got sent off after being outplayed in midfield by Mark Brennan the co hurler.

    Kilkenny Quarter Finals:

    Ballyhale Shamrocks v Dunnamaggin
    St. Martin's v O' Loughlin Gaels
    James Stephens v Carrickshock
    Clara v Erin's Own

The game between James Stephens and Carrickshock should be good. As has been pointed out elsewhere its time for Carrickshock to either put up or shut up. They have really done nothing since losing an epic semi final to Ballyhale in 2006. They have the players to put it up to the village but the suspicion is that they will fall short once again. Larkin and Tyrell have been excellent for JS of late. Still looks like Ballyhales to lose to me despite the loss of Shefflin and the their recent league final defeat to JS.

Could be a 5 in a row in Kilkenny this year after all.

On a side note I think if Birr win in offaly this year Brian Wheelehan will have set a record for county medals (14 I think) It wouyld be some record, crazy to think he is still lining out at senior for the club...

Gerry McCarville from Scotstown has 14 Senior Championship medals in Monaghan

Competitive enough championships in both codes in Carlow id say and they have the talent but perhaps not in numbers.

Is that Denis Murphy related to Brendan?

O'Loughlin Gaels won the Kilkenny Hurling Final beating Carrickshock by 0-17 to 1-11.

They've come on leaps and bounds the last decade. Is Andy Comerford still hurling for them?

The Mayo final was a shocker. One of the worst county finals I've ever seen. Both teams would have needed a gps system to locate the goalposts, Castlebar being particularly bad.

Galway hurling final next Sunday, Loughrea v Clarinbridge. Loughrea would be favourites for this and I'd expect them to win, though they're not a sure thing by any means.

With Portumna and Ballyhale both gone the All-Ireland looks wide open now for anyone to win it.

Be honest I would have been better off watching snail crawl up wall, it was so bad.

didnt bother watching the Football sunday...... was still trying to get over the shocker @the gaelic grounds sat eve:rolleyes:

What in gods name were TG4 thinking of,putting the mayo final on the box before the Kilkenny final??? cant figure that out. speaking of the KK final...... wow...... now thats hurling! was wondering if there was any ref there at one stage,:D havent seen a tough, physical game like that in a long while, and long may it continue...... KK people,id welcome your comments.

Afraid I couldn't make the final Sunday, was up the country for the weekend. Never missed a county final before and was all set to watch it when i discovered that TG4 were showing the mayo final! WTF were they thinking?? jeez to make matters worse, twas an hour wasted that i'll never get back!!absolutely shocking stuff,d worst ive ever seen..poor james horan will have impossible job with county team if that was they're show case!

I tend to agree with ya, some of the calls that were absent was shocking but at least he was consistently wrong on both sides :D. Also, need to learn to take advantage of the advantage rule :p. The game was very physical and it was somewhat surprising it didn't get dirty.

There was some lovely point-taking, but overall I was disappointed with the game. After having the best c'ship in a while, I thought this might be a better game. The general consensus in the ground afterwards that it was a poor game - it might have looked better on TV. I was very surprised it wasn't on TV, KK co final normally gets an airing.

Gorta was my MOTM. Delighted for Brian Hogan, after the horrid year he had between injury and losing the AI. It has been confirmed but not made offiicial that Brian will captain the Cats for 2011.

yes was a tough game but the better team won on the day....o'loughlin's deserve the title after defeating all ireland champions in the semi final... seems to be a different star every match they play... danny loughanne 1-3 and maurice nolan against shamrocks and bergin and hogan, and kearns in the final........
o'loughlins have a few injuries for sundays match against rathdowney... wont be easy... but im sure o'loughlin's would take a one point win...

it will take a good team to beat them....... hurling club championship wide open this year...

    Cork County Junior Finals results;

    Football - Cloyne 0-10 Whites Cross 0-9.

    Hurling - Meelin 1-19 Cloghduv 2-9.

I'm delighted for Meelin who hail from my own division, the first time in 41 years the trophy returns to the division.

Delighted for Meelin - who beat Mayfield in the semi- it will do them and hurling in that division a world of good.
Gutted for Whites Cross. They have won the city division for the last few years and have been very close yet again for county honours - hope they go up to intermediate though - give someone else a chance in the city!!

    Tip Hurling final
Thurles Sars 1-16 Clonoulty Rossmore 1-7

Sars were always in control and looked a very well balanced team.

I was pretty sure Whites Cross would win today. As you say they've dominated the City division the last few years and looked the form team for county honours but alas it didn't work out that way!

Dunno if its been mentioned on another thread but the Galway hurling final was a draw today. Clarenbridge dominated the first half and led most of the second half only for Loughrea to clench the draw in the last few minutes of the game.
    Final score was
    Clarinbridge 2-11 Loughrea 1-14

I simply love this time of the year. The best Senior, Inter and junior teams in both codes from each county pitted against each other. I really wish some more games were shown on TV - especially at junior level. Some of these teams produce absolute crackers!
Having enjoyed Celebrity Bainisteoir I wish RTE could show some more GAA at club level. We'd be absolutely lost without TG4 !!
