Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

So I went back to XP after having vista for a couple of years and hating it but recently whenever I turn on the computer the time is always wrong and it always goes back to the same date.
I heard it could be that the battery needs to be changed but I'm not sure.

I think it is only happening when the computer is not shut down properly, I know my little brother and my mam just shut it down by the button a lot instead of going into "shut down" etc etc.
But this never happened on vista.
What could be up with it?

Could be bios battery alrite, quite easy to pop it ot and replace it (a CR2032 battery it is I think), Also disable S3 sleep modes etc in the bios, a m8s asus mobos battery kept going and that was the culprit (setting power off button to sleep is possible in xp afaik)

Sounds like the bios battery alright. If its a desktop yoyo should be spot on with the battery type but open it and take a look first anyway. Most camera shops stock these.

It probably doesn't happen all of the time as the computer is left plugged the settings will be kept, its only when the plug is disconnected the battery is supposed to keep the settings for you.

Seems to be the CMOS battery.
I turned it off by the button there and a black screen came up with a load of properties and at the bottom it said "CMOS battery low, time and date not set, press F1 so run setup press F2 to load default values and continue" and so on.

I'll get that changed at the weekend so!

Edit: I don't know if this is right but it's just what it said on the screen, if it is I'll get it changed anyway.
