Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Scunthorpe_United_Logo.png v manchester-united-crest.jpg

    KO: 7.45
    Venue: Glanford Park
    Channel: Sky Sports 2

    _____________________________

Fergie has said that Owen, Macheda and Bebe will all definately play. I'd like to see:
    PiG
    Neville---Rio----Smalling---Rafael
    Bebe---Anderson--C.Evans---Obertan
    Owen
    Kiko

I'd love to see Will Keane some on at some stage as well.

United team from Kuszczak, Amos, Neville, Rafael, Brown, Ferdinand, Smalling, De Laet, Dudgeon, Anderson, Park, Obertan, Gibson, W Keane, C Evans, Eikrem, Owen, Hernandez, Macheda, Bebe.

Prediction: 2-0 United, Owen and Obertan with the goals.

Really looking forward to this, especially with the potential for Bebé and Anderson to both be involved. I'll be following this thread closely tomorrow anyway! Hopefully Ferdinand will be over his virus from the weekend.

I had a wee private bet with myself on whether Scunthorpe would get past the swear filter or not.

    I lost :(

I reckon the team will be:

    Amos

    Rafael-Ferdinand-Smalling-De Laet

    Obertan-Anderson-Gibson-Park

    Kiko-Owen.

PIG, O'Shea, Dudgeon, Bebe, Eikrem, Hernandez, Keane.

Question marks over Rio with regards to fitness.

I think PIG shall be in goals but other than that would be a good team to see out.

I reckon PIG will get CL and some EPL games - so if Amos is to get any game time as 3rd choice keeper this is the best chance for him. THough I did hear he was out injured for a few weeks, but he is apparently part of the traveling squad - so don't really know what the story is with him.

Normally i would have gone with Amos in goals but i think VDS will be in for the CL next week so we might see PIG at the weekend. Just my thinking on it.

Hoping for a win with a couple of Michael Owen goals, just to remind people he's still at the club and can do a job.

Surely Gibson would be given a chance no? I'd like to see him start ahead of Evans. Also I wouldn't expect Bebe to start.

    gibson will play.

we will have a strong team out. our squad over the past 3 years is exceptionally strong and its proved by the fact we are going for 3 league cups in a row. shows depth, that we can pretty much rest all our main players yet still win it. we only played a full team v city last year in the semi cos of the fa cup exit to city the sunday before.

    PIG
    Neville browne Smalling fabio
    bebe gibson anderson obertan
    owen kiko

of course, injuries or knocks dictate the selection. this is a tricky game, but we should pull through. cant wait for this, i love the carling cup. the united end will be full tonight, huge demand on tickets and if barnsley last year is anything to go by, it will be an epic night out for united fans and they will give the team a huge lift.

Anyhoo, looking forward to seeing Bebe & Anderson. I'm going to go for a 3-1 win. Owen with 2 and Kiko 1.

I'm absoltely intrigued to see what Bebe looks like over 90 minutes I have to say.

Also interested in the contributions of Anderson, Obertan, Macheda and Owen. I love the CC.

If that is the line up, have to say I am disappointed that Nev is starting ahead of Raf, have to wonder if Raf is being punished for something at this stage.

I know SAF made him shave his head when he first came but I'd say he wont change too much over 90 minutes!

Well he was carrying a ban for the Rangers game but being left out for this really does raise questions doesn't it?

Aw, wanted Bebe starting rather than Park tbh.

Must be tying up the loose ends of that Ronaldo deal I'd imagine.

    Edit: To slow. :pac:

As a three up front that forward line doesn't look top balanced. Chico might stay out wide but dunno about Kiko or Owen.

    Might be more a 442

    Chico-Anderson-Gibson-park
    Kiko
    Owen

I'm nearly sure I've seen Kiko play out wide in a 4-3-3 before, I'd say Owen could do a job there too.

I wouldn't argue against a 443 myself, bit harsh on the opposition though

Liking the attacking look of the team we have out. Hopefully will get to see Bebe/Obertan at some stage.

OT: Like the use of Nine Inch Nails for the intro to the Sky Sports programme for the game.. gets a thumbs up from me.

I remember seeing him play on the left in a reserve game 2 seasons ago, where he completely out-classed the poor guys marking him. Hopefully he'll do the same tonight in the first team!

Did Rio just go across his own goal?

He deserves another week on the bench for that. Numpty.*

EDIT: That was a very Scholesy type pass there from Owen.
