For the wings I used this recipe, which also works great for thighs.
For the slaw I just thinly sliced red cabbage, carrot, green apple, celery, spring onion. Dressing consists of a tbsp of mayo, a tsp of wholegrain mustard, squeeze of lemon, a bit of cider vinegar, bit of salt & sugar. Mix all and mix into veg.

Leftover jambalaya. Looks a little anaemic but packed full of flavour. I do believe I shall be having more leftover jambalaya for lunch tomorrow as my co-dinner-eater was very subtly not pushed (Walked into kitchen to shout of "Eh - everything in this pot is burnt already" while they agitated my poor, poor blackened peppers and onions and rice violently with a serving spoon. As though trying to whip them into stiff peaks)

Roast beef, coleslaw and pickle on a brown bap and a jambon. I love jambons.

My apologies for contravention of the threads ethos.

I can assure this will not happen again.

Oblomov, when posting pictures of restaurant meals, it would be very helpful to describe what exactly each dish is, and give the name of the restaurant and the location. Pretty pictures are great, but not very useful to this thread if they don't offer some kind of inspiration to the other posters. This isn't a food porn thread :)

And the name and location of the restaurant?

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,672 ✭✭✭Oblomov

It would appear we have different points of view, again, if this has caused any friction. I apologise.

I would have preferred a PM if there was any problems with the post. I like to think I learn from my mistakes.

I didn't see that you'd edited your post, and regardless, there's no need to be so rude when I'm simply asking you for information.

This thread is designed to inspire others and to share lunch ideas. Pictures of mysterious unidentifiable food from a restaurant that most of us could never afford is not in line with the point of the thread. Nonetheless, I was happy to leave the pictures there as perhaps they could inspire the more adventurous cooks amongst us - but they serve no purpose unless we at least know what the picture is of.

Anyway, let's let the thread back on topic now.

A stew of leftover ham hock, red lentils, green lentils, and pearl barley. Looks like dishwater, tastes delish. I think I'll beef up the rest of it with some more carrots and peas when I get home.

A pastrami & swiss cheese sandwich from Café Sol. Man, their sandwiches are unnervingly good for premade box jobs. Good bread, no sogginess, fillings that actually taste like they're supposed to and not a waxy pastiche of cheese & pastrami. Full on sad when it was over.

I've never had butternut squash before so I picked one up today in the supermarket and made a BNS and sweet potato soup with some carrot, onion, garlic and chilli powder. It's so yummy! It's just as well I liked it or I'd be well peed off after the effort of cutting the BNS.
