In what’s bound to be the biggest Dance Music event of the year in the South East, Resistance (in association with Hedliners) brings GREEN VELVET and PHIL KIERAN to the FORUM VENUE in Waterford on Bank Holiday Sunday 24th October. It will be almost 8 years to the day since Green Velvet and Phil shared a stage at the very first Resistance event at South in Tramore back in 2002. Green Velvet is still one of the world’s most respected techno DJs/producers and always makes sure he puts a Waterford date in his tour diary each year, due to the phenomenal reaction he gets every time. Phil Kieran is having the best year of his career to date, touring all over the World in support of his debut artist album “Shh”, released on the legendary Cocoon label. His awesome “Skyhook” track has just been re-released with new mixes including one by Green Velvet, so I’m sure the 2 lads will join forces for this on the night. Niall Power {Resistance, Electric Circus } will be on warm up on 24th, along with Hedliners residents doors are at 10.30pm and admission is €15, payable on the door.

    GREEN VELVET
Curtis Jones aka “Green Velvet” formed the Relief Records label in 1993 mostly for instrumental tracks by himself and others. Besides releases from DJ Sneak, Gemini and Paul Johnson, Green Velvet figured on many of the early Relief singles, including the first, "Preacher Man" as well as "Flash" (a number 1 in the US dance charts) , "The Stalker" and 1997's hilarious "Answering Machine." Jones began to supplement his Green Velvet DJ schedule with quasi-live gigs as well, and released his first LP in 1999. This was followed by the punk-inspired “Whatever”album in 2000 which explored darker themes than his previous work, including racism ("When?"), alienation ("Sleepwalking"), bending to authority ("Gat"), and drug use ("La La Land") which went on to become by far the biggest selling track of his career. The last decade has seen Green Velvet become a fan favourite across Europe, playing to huge crowds at festivals and club gigs. Numerous side projects and remixes under various names have also added to his seemingly non-stop musical output. The ongoing evolution in the music, career and life of the artist born Curtis Alan Jones in Chicago, has been and will continue to be fascinating to watch and experience for his many followers.

    PHIL KIERAN

First making his name as much-loved resident DJ at the legendary Shine club in his hometown of Belfast, Phil Kieran has made the transition from local hero to player on the global stage in grand style. Phil's first steps into a production career were quick to earn him the respect of the UK dance music scene with killer 12 inch releases on Skint, NovaMute and Soma, but more recently he has gained a new European currency by adding the rubberstamp of Sven Väth’s German powerhouse Cocoon to his musical passport, with the release of critically-acclaimed debut solo album 'Shh' in 2009. Phil continues to export the 'Shh' live spectacular around the world, with recent extended stints in South America and Australia, as well as gracing the finest techno clubs in Europe with one of those impeccable DJ sets that have made his name. On the release front, as well as new EPs on DJ Hell's International Deejay Gigolos and Speedy J's Electric Deluxe, Phil is also poised to launch his own record label PK Recordings with a re-release of his NovaMute classic 'Skyhook', complete with an enviable array of hot new remixes from Green Velvet, Adam Beyer, Jesper Dahlback and Hot Chip's own Felix Martin
