Gonna have to watch it again - too many well-crafted zingers to remember :D !

Jenna "I guess I'm not really needed here. Last time I said that I was in a three-way with two of the Backstreet Boys"

    And the Tracy Kenneth hallucinations.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,397 ✭✭✭✭FreudianSlippers

    Rico's husky boy collection.

Lots of laughs in this episode. Another solid opener, glad 30 Rock is back! Matt Damon was good in it too.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,772 ✭✭✭youngblood

I was v disappointed, apart from Jenna's onliner I really didnt think it was that great
    And I LOVE 30 Rock!!

    IS it just me???

    Maybe I need a rewatch

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,397 ✭✭✭✭FreudianSlippers

The Jenna storyline was the weakest part of the episode IMO.

Maybe a rewatch would help... Most of the "jokes" were sharp lines and references to other things.

Very good...I liked Jacks videos...and all of Tracy..as usual.

    Agreed.
I have high hopes for the
    live
    episode coming up!

enjoyable, but not essential any more I'm afraid... The look of resignation on Jack's face when he had to introduce Liz for his daughter's video at the end was priceless..

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,772 ✭✭✭youngblood

they obviously hired back the writers that make me laugh
good episode after the previous 2 duds
    much improved, more to do

    hope it keeps up

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,054 ✭✭✭✭Basq

The most recent episode was better the previous 2 duds alright!

    Lots of funny NBC references.

    It's a tentpole. A TENTPOLE!

excellent episode, really enjoyed it. some terrific lines. "I dabbled in television.. won a couple of emmys".. "i may not know where I'm going with this, but I know we can get there together!" "I'MMA KILL YOU WHITE DEVIL!"

    great stuff. back on form!

Wow! Can't wait for those. And loving the running Mickey Rourke one liner joke per ep, hope they keep it up.

Wonder which one I watched? lol... probably the East Coast one.

EDIT: I watched East. It was pretty good.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,818 ✭✭✭Minstrel27

Not sure which one I watched but it was very good. Superb references to the live episode and the adverts were fantastic.

edit: east coast for me too

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,473 ✭✭✭✭Our man in Havana

I watched both and it was worth it! :D

    Lots of little differences.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,818 ✭✭✭Minstrel27

Just finished the west coast version there a while ago. Few differences and I thought a few more mistakes than the earlier showing. It felt a bit weird with the live audience though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,759 ✭✭✭alastair_doom

Didn't really like it myself. A few very clever moments, but most of the jokes felt below the usual standard of the show. Actually it just felt like SNL, which I predominantly hate.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,054 ✭✭✭✭Basq

Nope.. as much as I hate to say it.. it really didn't work!

The material was decent for the most part, couple of fun references but the constant hollering and whooping of the audience irritated me beyond words (it was reminiscent of a poor late 80's / early 90's sitcom - The Cosby Show, Full House, The Nanny - take your pick!).

Fair fecks to them for trying it, but it really did absolutely nothing for me! :(

Just watched the East Coast version, can't imagine it would be worth my while watching the other one. Anyone else think the episode flew by for some reason?

Watching this just reminded me of the fact that I only watch one show with an audience, and HIMYM's ones keep their ****ing mouths shut most of the time. :pac: Or it's dubbed, don't know/care which.

HIMYM They dont use a live audience, read on imdb that it didnt work or something.
Back on topic I thought it was great, seen both liked both. Was it me or was kenneth hands sort of shaking at the start of the show?

Pretty funny episode TBH. It feels a bit like they didn't put much effort into the episode for the first half but it picked up towards the end.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,054 ✭✭✭✭Basq

Is anyone else really tiring of Kenneth.... or just me?

    Yeah, he's pretty annoying recently.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,054 ✭✭✭✭Basq

His character hasn't changed in 5 seasons.. and used to have great lines.

Now he's just tired and cringey!

"Get this, my gynecologist committed suicide."

Loved the first episode, really started off with a bang.
Didn't like the live one (I saw East Coast), maybe it was having the audience laughter included. I've got too used without it, hated hearing it again. So distracting.

The live ep was a waste of time, IMO. Bizarrely, Tina Fey looked the least comfortable with the format. I've a feeling this will be the last good season of 30 Rock.

No smallville and now no 30 Rock??!!
Damn these holidays, my saturdays aint complete!

    I LOVE this show.
"Telephone etiquette is important. It lets people know your race even when they can't see you."

"Ambition is the willingness to kill the things you love and eat them in order to survive."

"You are a remora clinging to me with your suction cup head. I give you a free ride and in exchange you, uh, eat my parasites."

"I’m Tracy Jordan. When I go to sleep, nothing happens in the world."

"Every Tina I’ve ever known is a judgmental bitch."

    I would vote for him!

If there's an Emmy or a Golden Globe for Best Guest Star in a Comedy, they can give it to John Slattery now.
"boy on the bottom, girl on top"

"the store began when Halliburton had some leftover canvas waterboarding hoods they refashioned into messenger bags."

"I believe in small government, or no government at all"
"If it works in Antarctica, why can’t it work here?"
"If we have to have government, why don’t we make it as small as possible? Dwarves in tiny buildings, pizza bagels for lunch."
"There’s work to be done. Hand me that shovel so I can dig a grave for her."

Liz "That place is crunchy on the outside, right-wing nutjob on the inside."
    Jack: "Like Ann Coulter’s underwear."

"Letting morality get in the way of making money. I might as well go and become a teacher."

    "Lesbian Mario brothers."

"Great like good, or grate like the thing I dropped my asthma inhaler down the other day?"

Episode 10: Very good episode. Good stories for all involved in the episode. 2 black swans was pretty hilarious.

I loved Traceys line at the womens refuge when he told them all to shut up because a man was about to speak.

I think it has lost something over the last couple of series. More mediocre episodes than previously.

They seem to have lost the greek chorus type comedy troupe. Where is Suree? Very very limited use of the writing team this year.
