Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Gijon off to a bright start.

Have to admit I am surprised that Valencia are joint leaders of la liga.

Expected with the players losses they would have slipped but going strong - they bought well and playing good stuff like they showed against Atleti after going behind.

    1 - 0

Valencia strolling this - two up and in cruise control.

Los Che will definitely be remaining top of la liga this evening.

Levante are missing seven players for tonights game.

All over now - Valencia move 3pts clear at the top.

Jaoquin, Albelda and Miguel were all rested today for any United supporters who are interested.

Sky missed the first 4 minutes of the Madrid match because they had to show 5 minutes of ads after the rugby game. I somehow doubt that'd happen if it was an EPL game!

That was some turn by Ozil.

Been Madrids best player this season so far.

Levante trying to kill the game already. Madrid just soooooo slow on the attack.

There are red cards in this yet. Jesus, Ronaldo is such a petulant little child, fantastic footballer, but completely deplorable on the pitch with his antics, his diving and bullying have reached new levels this season. Can't believe goal keepers receive so much protection these days, no way was that a foul!

Madrid will win this though, they have threatened plenty already, enough to show they'll score a few tonight.

Controlling the game but making no chances.

Controlling the game but making no chances.

Higuain and Di Maria both had good chances. Also, Marcelo is eating up the left side, he has no defensive duties tonight, they'll score, mark my words. (I hope they lose 15-0 though :p)

Disgusting by Carvalho, he knew full well... Guess it's to be expected from a Mourinho team.

    Barca lineup:
Valdés, Alves, Piqué, Puyol, Adriano, Xavi, Busquets, Keita, Pedro, Villa, Iniesta

Honestly looking like 0-0 to me.

I would put my house on Madrid to score.

Real are out numbered 2 to 1 everytime they attack because Mourinho insists that on playing two defensive midfielders and doesn't push men forward.

Lol, as bad as Ronaldo has been, there was no bloody way he elbowed anyone in the face just there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,148 ✭✭✭✭Raskolnikov

Just do not understand why Khedira and Alonso start together, pointless.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,190 ✭✭✭✭IvySlayer

What's up with this referee? Giving freekicks for nothing, even though neither team asked for one

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,046 ✭✭✭eZe^

Just do not understand why Khedira and Alonso start together, pointless.

Mourinho is mimicking the formation Spain used at the world cup. A 4-2-3-1 with 2 deep lying midfielders to stifle the opposition. The difference is, the 3 behind the forward striker aren't capable of controlling a game as well as Iniesta/ Xavi do for Spain, so they seem very disjointed, and rely far too much on individual brilliance instead of creating team chances. I agree, they need to sacrifice one of them so they can play two attacking midfielders (Kaka and Ozil would be fantastic when Kaka recovers).

    Madrid dominated start to finish.

Dunno how they didnt score to be honest.

    Well done to Levante.

Its up to Barca to capitalise now.

    Visca Barça!

Real are all over the place. The same as they were last season, but at least they were a decent side to watch back then.

Valdés Alves Piqué Puyol Adriano Xavi Busquets Keita Pedro Villa Iniesta

Bilbao have looked good so far, fancy them here to get something.

Agreed, hopefully a good hiding. :p

Great draw for Levante, they did well to hang in there. Ronaldo and his free kicks, someone needs to take that ball off him.

Looking forward to this Athletic v Barca game now, should be a good one. Big game for Martinez, Llorente could well cause Barca a few problems today :D

Keita getting involved up front twice in the opening 10mins - very odd but not in a bad way I suppose.

Some pass from San Andres - Villa should have done better.

Can't for the life of me understand how he ever got the job when you have a man of Big Sam's calibre languishing at Blackburn.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,046 ✭✭✭eZe^

Just watching how well some of these players have developed under Guardiola, Pique and Busquets have literally become world class. Love it. Iniesta's through ball there was orgasmic, Xavi is playing a good few balls over the top too, the water logged pitch might be a potential reason.

Sir Alex should just retire now before Barcelona snap him up imo.

Alves setup for Villa against Gijon on wednesday with the outside of the boot was pure jizz.

This game is reminding me of the game we played away to Mallorca 2 seasons ago, absolutely bucketing down rain, horrible conditions. Ended up winning 3-1, with Messi and Xavi scoring. That performance made me believe we had moved on from the Rijkaard era, I hope Guardiola can get a similar enough performance and result tonight.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,480 ✭✭✭✭cson

Have to say watching the first 20mins or so of this; the skill levels of both teams and atmosphere are far superior to the Premiership.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,435 ✭✭✭✭redout

    Hey Mog,

Muniain - will he be showing his face.

    Sure hope so.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,480 ✭✭✭✭cson

Just as I say that it gets scrappy.

Ooo controversial red. Don't think it's the right decision...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,096 ✭✭✭An Citeog

    Harsh red imo.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,190 ✭✭✭✭IvySlayer

Retarded red card, never a sending off. Referee has ruined the game.
