I'd say daytime first, for those without SLR's/Tripods

New to all this and just was followin this thread. I have bought that d300 recently and I'm over the moon with it, although I 've never had a slr before and can't compare it to anything I do recomend it. I bought it in Argos in in Limerick for 429 with a lens, had a look in that shop in william st and it was advertised for 400 with the lens and a memory card and a camera bag. I just assumed argos was cheaper, anyway I still love it. Now I want a long lens for photographing birds and sports, especially hockey. Anyone have any suggestions ! I am willing to spend around 100 -150 euro

Welcome to Boards, I have a Nikon D70s and use 55-200 zoom for rugby photography, I get fairly decent pics but get a load of crap too. I haven't seen too much hockey but I'd guess it's a fast game so a you need something that will be able to cope with a lot of movement.

Over on the photgraphy forum a few of the posters do sports photgraphy, pwalsh (I think it his username) has a section on his site.

I hope you get to enjoy your camera and your photgraphy.

Thanks! Yeah, there was this mist just lingering around the clarion all morning. Thought it might be a bit distracting, but maybe it works.

Well, just back from 5 days, and a friends wedding in Limerick. These shots are not as good as any of the others, but they are a few photos from the perspective of an American visiting for the 3rd time. :) Limerick has changed a bit since my first visit in 2005, and second in 2009.

French's had some great French toast covered in crepe batter! Also pic of Thomand House (Used to be O'Raida's, where I met a good friend, that I still have to this day.) Heard the owner Tom passed away recently. He was very nice to me on both my other trips...

    Cheers,
    Skottoman

You are correct! Top floor looking out towards the river.

Absolute was where the wedding was, and is quite an upgrade from the times I've stated at the Pery's Best Western on Catherine St.!

    Cheers,
    Skottoman

Nice. The sky looked really cool that evening alright. Any more pics of it?

Slightly off topic but linked to that pic nonetheless, the house in that cul de sac that I mentioned to you sometime back will be going the way I said.

And if you walk out onto your driveway and look to your right, the house facing up the street towards you is up for rent as well. Including the cul de sac houses that will make for 8 on your street.
