FFS, what would be the point of signing him? We have plenty of deadball specialists (Bale, VDV, Modric), plenty of people who play on the wing with no pace (Krancjar & Bentley) and no need for someone who would undoubtedly put the effort in but would not improve the team one bit. If it were to happen, the only position he could possibly play would be in the middle with Modric, but he doesn't have the steel to be able to do that.

Hopefully it's just a rubbish rumour.

    Don't want/need him.

IMHO he has been freeloading on one free kick against Greece and a decent season when united won the treble.

George best summed him up best "he can't tackle, use his head, kick the ball with his left foot, beat more then one player..... Apart from that he's the best player in the world"

bit like golfball said we'd stop being spurs and become David Beckham's spurs. He could maybe have done a job before Lennon,VDV and Modric bit not anymore.

Finally, if we weren't good enough for him when he was 12 screw him now.

    That is all :)

We'd make a fortune on his shirt sales

Would we really? I don't think Beckham fever is anywhere where it used to be.

Maybe not here, or Europe, but perhaps in over in places like Asia and maybe the US too. Still though, all in all I would definitely be against him coming to us, he would add nothing of importance to the squad. I doubt he'd even be able for a full game in the PL these days.

BBC talking about it as well now, which makes me think it might actually happen. I'm not sure to be honest. Our speed is one of our most important aspects at the moment, and Beckham wasnt fast when he was in his prime, which he most definitely isnt in anymore.

I'll be very very pissed off if this happens. The squad is going well, there's brilliant team spirit, why bring the media circus that is Beckham into the team? I honestly think that this could cause us problems if he joins as I can imagine it will only piss some of the players off.

I'll be sick, honestly will if I see this happen.

I can't see what Beckham would have to offer us other than a media circus headache.

So far, the players that Harry has brought in have been good buys with something to offer. Beckham is a 35 year old has-been who was always over-rated and drags with him nothing but unwanted press attention. It would unsettle the current side.

As for the 'shirt sales', I would have thought Bale would probably be outselling hime at the moment.

Just been on the bbc website, according to harry Beckham is keen to join spurs. Cant understand why we would go for a player like him.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,057 ✭✭✭tippspur

    I hope it never happens.

Bad news is, it looks like it will. With Harry saying he's interested in Beckham and Beckham saying he's keen on the move, it's bound to happen. It will bring the media in around the players and can only mean bad things.. I hope I'm proved wrong.

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,081 ✭✭✭ziedth

    :( that is all.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,171 ✭✭✭yiddo59

Well on the positive side it must mean the end of Bentley and even at 35 Becks is still faster than Pav :D

I don't think it would be as bad as some people think he would add to the mentality at the club and that's what we are starting to cultivate and I think he could help instill that into the team

I hope to God that Harry doesn't seriously consider polluting our team with that poncey attention-seeking metrosexual muppet!!

Horrible thoughts now that I wouldn't be actually able to consider myself a 100% fan at the end of the best season since I started supporting Spurs over 30 years ago!

Even sickened by the thought of it!

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,778 ✭✭✭✭Kold

Really don't get the Beckham hate. I just don't think he'd add to the squad.

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,081 ✭✭✭ziedth

Anyone thinking that Harry is saying this to get a bit of buzz about the club?
Benzema hears that Beckham was interested so maybe they are worth a look.

    From football365:
And the Mirror is predicting 'Beckham will become Tottenham's highest-paid player with a £1.5 million deal for his three-month loan spell.

Beckham earns around £200,000 a-week at LA Galaxy but is willing to take a pay cut during the break in the MLS season. At White Hart Lane, he will be on £120,000 a week - the top earner at the club'.

    LOL?

    LOL?
Another source I read earlier said his basic salary was £80,000 a week maybe they meant $200,000 ?

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,081 ✭✭✭ziedth

£120k? this is getting beyond a joke now IMHO.

Has there been word of when Khumalo arrives? I read somewhere that he might be available for the FA cup match on the 9th, but there's been no mention of him on the official site yet

We are linked in the indo with a £17m bid for Suarez

I'd be over the fcuking moon if he came. I'd rather him to the likes Benzema and Huntelaar hands down. He's a top, top player, a bit tempermental, but ye'd have him in a heartbeat - especially at that price!

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,081 ✭✭✭ziedth

Jesus 17m would be a great price too. Here is hoping.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,946 ✭✭✭SuprSi

Is he really that good though? I have to admit to not knowing much about him, other than his exploits in the WC, but I never rate the Dutch league that highly and even if he's a top scorer there, would he work in the PL? I know the same can be said of Benzema too though.

its always hard to say but from what i have seen of him he is well worth 17m

the dutch league has a chequered history when it comes to producing strikers for the premiership, but it should be remembered that for every kezman, kalou and huntalaar there is a bergkamp, larsson, van nistelrooy, ronaldo, romario

    Re: Beckham

The possible arrival might create enough buzz both on and off the pitch tohelp the team kick on in business end of the season and finish as strong as possible. However the whole beckham circus brings alot of negatives with it and for me the risk outways the reward.

As long as Harry doesn't do anything daft like messing with tactics/formations/style just to accomadate Beckham ... that would be a disaster.
