You believe their religeous beliefs have had an impact on their driving?

Maybe not their driving - but have you noticed that Muslims always park their cars facing in the direction of Mecca?

Yup, except for the extreme ones AFAIK.

All Muslims aren't gun totting Arabs who hate the West, and to think even a noticeable percentage of them are is ridiculous.

Sounds like the general population of germany till some radical named hitler took control.
Then you saw most of the population cheering and giving the nazi salute "Sieg Heil" and getting behind the war movement because they thought they were going to be victorious.

Moderate muslims will soon jump on the band wagon when the time is right!

Any Muslims I know observe Ramadan and all the laws of Islam - so long as they're in the Middle East.

In my experience once the Muslims I know who leave the Middle East and come here for work/education/asylum etc soon settle into Irish culture - go on the piss etc etc... biggest hypocrites on earth IME.

Funny you should say that, cause the only muslim I know at work, drinks at the Catholic Club 199 Castlereagh St Sydney NSW 2000.

Nearly every day he drinks there.

More inane crap. You might at least remove the "aussie" from your name and stop shaming your fellow nationals.

I know Muslims that observe Ramadan and also have the odd pint. I also know Muslims who don't accept 100% of what they were thought.
A la carte muslims you might call them. In fact all of the Muslims that I know are (un)surprisingly just like regular folk.

I don't see what all the fuss is about.
Some people want to build a place of worship. It happens to be a mosque - so what? Moslems have the same basic human rights as everyone else - including freedom of religion, thankfully.

It is a fact that there are some extremists in the world who happen to be Moslem. That is a cause for concern, obviously!

However, it is also a fact that there were some extremist Catholics and Protestants on this Island, in the not too distant past!!!

During the troubles, I never heard anyone objecting to the building of a Church or Chapel, because some "extremists" might choose to meet there.
So, why reserve this treatment for Moslems? As a nation, we should know better - and, thankfully, most of us do!!! JMO.

    This story was interesting.

This summer a shopping centre in Rochedale, UK installed "squatting toilets" because there is a large muslim population in the area and they prefer this kind of toilet.

It's a subtle change but it's quite a large accomodation to a religious/cultural group just on the basis of preference rather than need. It would kind of show how the landscape of our society could be change quite dramatically by integration of a group with a very strong identity.

I absolutely believe in integration and religious freedom but it's hard to see how you can integrate a group who are deeply morally opposed to the way of life and freedoms offered by western society without us changing to their way of life to at least an extent. As they become a more dominant political force sheerly due to their numbers there will probably be a greater price to be payed by us than is recognised now.

I wish people would stop conflating "Muslim" practices and cultural/national practices - they are NOT the same. Squatting toilets are common in South Asia - which is full of not only Muslims but Hindus, Buddhists, and Christians, by the way. You see both squatting and Western toilets in Indian and Malaysian airports, largely because from a local perspective (regardless of religious affiliation), Western toilets are filthy: why would you use something that 200 other strangers have put their ass on? Yet they know that many people use Western toilets, and so they accommodate everyone - even though they think it is gross.

Regardless, I fail to see how a modification to bathroom plumbing represents the end of Western Civilization as we know it. Taking a **** while squatting =/= end of liberal democracy.
