    Hi all,

As an unemployed graduate, I'm considering every option possible. I'd love to use this opportunity to do some travelling - particularly Japan.

I was wondering if anyone had any tips about looking for work in Japan? I'd love to visit for 3-6 months and experience the country. If I could make enough money to cover my expenses while I'm there I'd be happy. I've a degree + masters in Business, if that generic qualification makes a difference. :P

You could probably teach english? Don't know much about it, but it seems to be a pretty popular.

There are 2 popular TEFL programmes, the JET Programme and also a company called Interac hire graduates to teach English too.

JET also look for people to be Co-Ordinators for International Relations and AFAIK Interac might get people in Tokyo to work in the office, so your undergrad degree might still be useful. It's a good way to get to Japan, from there you could start looking for work in other companies, etc ;)

English teaching is very popular over here, probably the only job available for foreigners if you do not have a good proficiency of Japanese ( at least JLPT2 in an working environment). I was lucky I managed to get an engineering job.

There's also the Monbukagakusho scholarship, but thats a different story altogether.

TEFL would probably be great for what you want to do. And you've got business knowledge too. You could teach japanese businessmen pigeon english. Perfect! ;)

Like others have said, teaching English is probably your only option, and only in conversation schools. I've heard more positive things regarding jobs about Korea though.

You can get a one year working-holiday visa for free – MOFA holiday visa. Although, it will be very hard to get employment other than teaching. To be frank, with your current skill-set, if you would struggle to get a job in a city like London in the current climate, you don't have much of a chance getting employed in a foreign country where very little English is spoken.
