    It's zeitgeist. A word which I maintain would be better if it translated into 'temporal ghost' which is really the worst kind of ghost.

    Why? The word you're looking for is "expectation". People come in to UCD expecting X, what they get is Y. Result: disappointment. Suggestion: moderate your expectations.
