Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

If anyone posts photos on their blogs of the trip this morning will you let me know, I'd love to see what everyone else captured :)

A slightly blurry (and vintagised!) tiger. I'll pop up a blog post later in the weekend with extra (and hopefully more decent!) shots.

Nice, I like the intense look on his face. The glass barrier is a bit of nuisance alright, especially when it's covered in tiger breath!

I got this in March :pac:

Edit: I also hate the glass, Though I'd rather have no glass and take a risk than having glass!

Great focus, and the expression again is fantastic, it seems tigers are naturally photogenic!

How do you get the photos? Are they through the glass or is there another clear part through the fence?

Just out of curiousity, what was so special about yesterday morning? Did they get a new batch of tigers or something like that?

Must visit the zoo sometime, but I've no idea where it is. Someone on Google Earth seems to have put it in the middle of a road somewhere :(

Jesus that map makes it look quite big. Is it large? I haven't been there in about 15 years! I think I was 7 when I was last there :o

Looks like a decent way to pass a day. Would you spend much time in it? Do they care about ye taking photos at all (I'd assume they don't)?

    Cheers Blip!

Its not biggest but its quite big to be fair, since you were last there theyve added a walk around safari park, dunno about anyone else but i could happily spend a few hours with the camera in the zoo and a few hours round the park, defintly a decent way to spend a day in good weather when we get it.

Yeah KKV, as Old Perry says above it has increased in size since you where a kid / much better environment for the larger animals. They call the extension the African Plans and its a good way to spend the day. Cameras are allowed so no problems there at all, enjoy.....heres one from the back in April.

First time to post in the Photography forum :)

I brought my six month old to the zoo for the first time on Saturday, but he fell asleep, so I got busy with my 350D instead. I have a couple of shots of the tigers, but thought I'd thought up something different (man that Silverback threw me a dirty look )

Dumb question: does the zoo mind you bringing a tripod in?

Haven't been to the zoo in... well, ages. Decades.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 514 ✭✭✭paulusdu

No not at all, as long as you bother the animals you can bring in what you like. you will see plenty of tripods there, but if you want to get there at a good time, the earlier the better and weekdays when the kids are in school are good too.

They usually feed the tigers, wolves and snow leopards in the morning, you can get some really great shots then
