Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Wireless Internet

I was hoping someone could offer me some advice please with regard to a router capable of reaching a max of about 150ft from one building to another?

We are trying to provide a wireless internet service for guests in holiday homes. There is a router in another building with a 1mb connection. Limited access can be picked up in a couple of the apartments but not the other six.

If we were to increase the connection speed to say something like a 7mb connection with a more powerful router is it likely to be successful at the range I am asking about? What about a 3mb connection, would it sufficient? I would only be talking about occasional use with no more than 2-3 computers online at the one time.

The next question would be that if all the above is possible is there any way to restrict certain sites from being accessed?

I would appreciate any advice anyone has to offer.

To restrict websites you can install opendns,
google install opendns,or install free filter software,
    see here http://www1.k9webprotection.com/
    see here for opendns,http://www.opendns.com/
i think theres wifi extenders you can buy to extend the wifi range .
on SOME browsers ,internet explorer,eg you can setup, a admin password,
go to internet options, content, block nudity, profanity etc
make password, 1g3ASDu7ZDn35 ,ie not easy to guess.
    google install opendns.
    Google free net filter software.
you could run a cable from the router to building 1 , then have a wifi acess point in building one .ONE router can have 5 ethernet cables running from it ,ie all the pcs may not need to use wifi,to acess the web
    ethernet cable is fairly cheap.
