Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

No hope for this team. I feel sorry for Kevin Doyle having to line out with them time after time.

    BRING ON DON GIVENS!!!

RUSSIA FOR THE EUROS tbh or are we just making them look that good??:o

I've always been somewhat impressed by them. they are a proper team, in that they have a clear identity and know exactly how they want to play. But they are notorious bottlers. If you get at team, and deprive them time of the ball you;ve a good chance of beating them. We don't do that.

Aye, never an easy job playing up front on your own.

Oh well... we're still in the group.

Might as well cheer for N. Ireland now

Might aswell be beaten 5-0 as 3-0.. Throw on a few lets play ball

Tommy Smyth just said the same thing and it's bollox. We may need goal difference to be in for a playoff spot in a tight group.

Gung ho and a 5-0 beating would be an even bigger disaster.

Janey they are carving us open down the right flank. Kilbane will be sure to line up against the Slovaks though.

If I switch this off and turn it back on in 30 mins I dread to think what the score might be

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,982 ✭✭✭Degag

Kilbane and Green really shown up tonight. Why is it that when we have competant right backs in Kelly and Foley, Trap continues to play Kilbane out of position at left back when we could bring one of them in and switch O'Shea to left back?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,276 ✭✭✭IRISHSPORTSGUY

We're a small country and if you don't pick your best players you don't stand a chance:

O'Shea should be left back instead of Kilbane.
    Coleman/Foley should be right back
    James McCarthy should be starting
Stephen Ward should be in the squad
Andy Reid should be in the squad

Just way out of league :( Has he even made 1 successful pass? All he seems to do is try closing down the russians and ends up falling over

People need to ease up a bit, the team have done really well upto now, to be honest from the minute I saW how Russia had set up with the players they have, I had a feeling. Still think we'll beat Slovakia and won't be too downbeat about the week's work.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,395 ✭✭✭✭Oat23

Did Akinfeev really just throw the ball to the center circle and the Russian player wasn't even challenged for it?

    Jesus.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,595 ✭✭✭bonerm

Did this team even train together this week?

Imagine the opposition goal keeper being able to throw a ball out to a man free inside your half in the Semi Circle.. dont think ive ever seen that in all my time watching football

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,920 ✭✭✭The Floyd p

That would have been a decent chance if Robbie Keane had not jumped 20 seconds early*

    *Note:Exaggeration

Robbie put through and first thing he does when he gets to the ball? Turns around to see what's behind him. :(

I think people need to be more realistic about the team to be honest, they are hyped up a bit in the media here, a loss is not a bad result for them considering the result earlier today.

On the plus side we don't play Russia again until next September so by then we might have some better players in the team.

How do you quantify that? We haven't created one decent chance and are 3 - 0 down. I actually dare you to name a player who is playing well.

I don't think it's the result so much as the way we're playing. TBH once we went 1-0 down the game was already over and that's as much down to the way we choose to play as down to Russia.

Yeah but I'd be worried about what a 4 or 5 goal thrashing would do for team morale for next game

Yup instead of ploughing another €xbn into Anglo we'll head off to Africa and start buying them.

How is Glen Whelan a professional footballer...seriously?

Did he collect tokens from crisp packets or something.

I've seen better in the Local Leagues...shocking stuff. really shocking.
