Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

We can take these guys away on Tuesday, they weren't too hot against Macedonia at home either. We'll definitely do 'em in Dublin anyway.

Judging by Armenia's recent results they can compete against tappy tappy teams, but struggled against our physicality. :)

Armenia didn't exactly struggle against us.

Far from garbage, just an off night in a tough spot to visit. Armenia played above themselves as well. The Slovaks aren't as bad as this makes them look

It's not the Irish way to praise anything but I dare say it was. Well, maybe not really really good but definitely quite good, all things considered.

Well they sure as hell weren't as effective as they were this evening. Bar last 10 minutes I thought we were quite comfortable. :)

Nice one, big psychological advantage for us going into the game later. Really gives us an incentive to go for the 3 points.
And going on this performance by Slovakia, we have a great chance of getting something in Zilina on Tues.

I'd say Russia could see a chance to capitalise and we could end up facing a backlash next week in Slovakia.

It's not all rosey in the garden for Ireland, at least not yet. This is looking like a very very tight group with maybe three or four sides in the running. Should we win tonight I'll be optimistic but we have a job to do first.

    Glazers Out!

On the contrary, I'd see this as a factor that would cause the Slovaks to play all out on Tuesday. Ireland might pip a tight game, but if the Slovaks play the flowing stuff then we might be in trouble.

Draw tonight, and draw on tuesday. 1-1 tonight, 0-0 in Slovakia. My prediction is MADE :)

Was that Stoch fella taken off injured? Isnt he the Slovaks most creative player?

Don't know if it's a positive or negative that we're playing teams in Russia tonight and Slovakia on tuesday that are both coming off surprising defeats. On the one hand we could be on the end of two backlashes, but on the other hand they lost for a reason and we can exploit there respective weaknesses!

**** me. What a pessimistic lot you bunch are.

The team who are joint top of the group slip up at the very place where Ireland got a result and you are looking for negatives.

Optimism has been beaten out of me over the past decade of results

I know its a little off topic from the game but I hear Russia are staying in Ireland till Monday. Does anyone know where they're staying or training? As an Arsenal fan I'd love to try and get Arshavin's autograph...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,879 ✭✭✭The_B_Man

Are they not playin in Russia on Tuesday? Thats a bit of a push to get there on time!! I'd say they'd be "russian" to get back alright!! ;)

Great chance now to take control of the group. Really think we can pull out a win, hope Keane forgets whats going on at WHL and gets a goal or two. I wouldn't be very confident if I was Russian.

Wow Slovakia win in Russia yet lose in Armenia....a draw tonight is looking even better now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,466 ✭✭✭tim_holsters

The game will most likely be a draw, remember Trap is in charge folks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Great result in Armenia. It means if we lose to Russia it's not the end of the world. I'm not confident of anything more than a draw but hopefully Russia wil have a stinker. I think Dzagoev is a big danger if he's on the right as he was against Slovakia.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,099 ✭✭✭Dean820

Come on Ireland! Lets make some memories we'll never forget tonight!

    Good memories, lol.

What a schock result in Armenia, shows how important our win was there. Infairness they were all over us at times.
A draw will do tonight. Russia will go all out for the win Id take a draw.
    COYBIG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
