Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Shows how **** international football is when this pathetic line up may top the group.

They would be mid table Championship at best.

I don't think so, I presume you are referring to Ireland in which case more mid table premiership would be closer to the truth.

lol did anyone see the fig rolls crowd in the stadium? IS that not ambush marketing??? Lucky its Ireland and not South Africa! ;)

Yeah because all of them play regularly for PL sides don't they?

Oh no most of them don't actually and are either reserves (Keane Whelan Andrews Given) Or are too poor for PL ( McGeady, St Ledger, Kilbane, McShane, Keogh, Lawrence, Paul Green).

CYBIG.....Russia are overrated, fancy us to win here 1-0.

Russia and Slovakia's first 11 are hardly all Premier League players either are they. Stupid statement tbh.

Looking at RTE, Eamo doesn't look his best. Very sick looking.

    its just his haircut.

Think Russia will be too strong for us.

The whole group is piss poor. Slovakia drew with New Zealand in the WC. Russia are terrible since Hiddink left and didn't even make it out of an easy group.

And we have an average - poor side. Even the likes of Armenia, a side practically filled with amateur players.

    Andrews isn't playing!!

Way to talk the team down.

Yeah because they don't have their own proper league do they? Unlike where our players rest in the English lower leagues.

    Clueless comment from you tbh.

Bad: Tommy Smyth is commentating

Such a morbid poster you are. Rarely anything constructive to say. Just go watch the match and begrudge the football as usual.

Why build up poor players to be world beaters?

They will only let you down. Like last time vs France.

Well maybe they let you down, but none of the team let me down against france.

I'm worried about the match tonight, but we can beat Russia,

    Bring on the game anyways.

we will go a goal down, get back on level terms after a good spell of play, and then fluke a 2nd in on the closing minutes.

Who said anything about world beaters????

This is a match thread and your waffling about how poor international football is and how **** the Irish team are. Then you say the starting 11 aren't good enough for the premier league and then mention the likes of Andrews who isn't even playing.

Negativity for the sake of it, which is how your posts read, are just clogging up the match thread before a ball has been kicked.

I think Russia have been taken lightly by many on this thread. Their team has plenty of European experience and they got hit by a sucker punch against Slovakia due to an Akinfeev mistake. We write these guys off at our peril.

The plusses for us are that they seem like like they can be hit on the break, especially in their full back positions, so with a good game by McGeady and Lawrence we might have a chance. We're always dangerous at set pieces too. Have to have hope at the end of the day. Hopefully we can edge it but a draw wouldn't be a disaster.

    Deep breath

    Come on Ireland

I'm usually more pessimistic than the next man but this team has a 100% record in the group so far so I'll wait until we lose that record before I get the knives out.

Bagging a winning team = fail

    Enough of your childishness.

Would love to think we can win this but a draw probably the best we can hope for.
